I cannot tell. I'm a bit confusedd.
How does one tell if their rear axles are full floaters or not?
Does it depend on the years of the LC's?
Or does it depend if the LC's came with lockers or not?

What are the pros/cons to having a full floater vs. non full floater?

IF it has drum brakes it is a semi float.
If it has rear discs it is a full float.
Your 97 is a full float.
93-94 is when they went to a full float if I recall

I believe '93/'94 with rear dbs and all '95 to '97 are all ff.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
But with a full float, your wheels will not fall off if your rear axles break on you.
Versus a semi float, if your axles break, your wheels may fall off on you.

That would be correct I think. I have a semi float and when I put in the locker the axle is held in by the c-clips in the diff. Not to familiar with a full float.

Confusing info here...

Full-float - You will see protruding hubs in the rear if you pull the hubcaps.
Semi-float - No rear hubs, just a flange to bolt your tire to.

Yes--full floater actually has a hub assy just like the front.

Not all 95 and later are full floaters. You do need to look and make sure. I have seen more than one 93, 94 and 95 running semi floaters in the rear. And with wrecks and such, you never know what some one has swaped in. be carefull, look to make sure.

I have one of those fabled 94's with a semi-float rear end. came from the factory like that.
I actually prefer it without the ABS.

Yeah. Mine has rear disc brakes and abs, so I would imagine to have a full floater.

if you have a c-clip rear end if you break a shaft your tire will come off, semi float and ff, the tire will stay on

If you convert a semi-float to disc brakes, the caliper will prevent the wheel/brake/axle from coming out. when you have a broken axle. It is less likely to be driveable than a FF, however.

@jfz80 sorry but I need more help. Can I install ARB air lockers on both my axles? If no then why not? I've been looking up information on the c-clip, and I'm not sure I'm getting it. My axles are in the pictures above from an earlier post of mine.
