Rear axle/breaks differences 1971 vs 1978? (1 Viewer)

Hi, I was wondering if anyone on here knows if there is a difference between the 71, and 78 rear axles, and what that difference may be. I have a 1971 40 with 78 front axle (by PO) I'm trying to determine if the rear was 78 as well.

One thing you can do is drop the diff cover and look for the date that is stamped on the side of the ring gear. Not proof positive that the entire rear axle assembly is from a 78 but it is additional info you did not have before you looked.

9x37=4:10 gearing
08/19/77 production date
T924 = I have no clue
