Ford triton V8s have a similar problem with the spark plugs.

The main problem is either a herniated glow plug tip (from being overheated due to multiple glow cycles) or carbon build up.

I would say, put a pile of rags on top of the hole, and start the engine and rev it up... if it comes out, it's really going to launch!! Be very careful, it's going to act just like a bullet. Use LOTs of rags, cardboard etc and perhaps lower the hood down a bit.

Other than that, some of the methods for extracting the ford spark plugs might work - have a read about it with Google as your friend. There are extraction kits and special glue to do it. Expensive but effective.

Some of the extraction methods also use an extended tap to carefully thread into the protrusion left behind without pushing it into the hole. Also, some types of bolt extractors might work (easy out - the spiral kind, not the square hammer in kind).

Hey Rummat81. I have taken several ford broken spark plus out using the extractor kit. You are going to have to build your own. I'ts super simple. Here is a few pics of one I made for something else. I would suggest undoing the rest of the glow plugs an pick one and cut it apart so you can size it up for the correct size tap to fit in the shell. cut the tap short and weld a bolt on it. use sockets ,washers ect to get the right fit. You only need to cut a very small amount of threads. When the tapping is done tighten the the nut to pull the broken sleeve out. Like I said you don't need the tap to go in far at all ( don't break the tap).
Hope this helps.

Take Care
