Buddy out in Utah had his front axle snap ring come off. Cant get the axle through the hub enough to fit the snap ring. Inspection appears to show the rear hub seal (FDS dust seal) appears to be destroyed keeping the axle from re-seating. Currently face timing him to help but anybody in the area with expertise would be greatly appreciated

Appears the front wheel bearing tore itself apart.. They're getting a hotel for the night and hoping someone in the area carries the parts. If anyone can help with this please let me know

sorry, too far south for me to help. Parts will probably be pretty tough to find down there too. I can’t think of how he could get it together to limp home without the right parts.

@cruiserdan might be able to get him the most important stuff fast.

Just ordered that stuff online ... part numbers for a 2006

Snap Ring

43423-35010 CAP, FR AXLE OUTER S
43422-60070 GASKET, FR AXLE OUTE
90215-42025 WASHER, LOCK
90080-36098 Inner bearing

And ..., Lots of grease, a socket wrench, something softish to bang on the bolts to unseat the cone washers, and if the oil seal is still on the back, a serious pry bar or big screwdriver.

Edit add: oops, 54mm socket for the adjusting and lock nut.

Ive read here that theres a decent repair shop with cruiser experience in St George- maybe someone can post up the name.

Pro Auto Care in StG is awesome.

I keep a lot of new parts in hand, and some hub bearings cross between the 80 and 100....have him message me, I'm out of town right now, but they are more than welcome to hit my shop and see if anything there works.

How does parts of bearing enter the axle hub? those are two different chambers.

Hub and rotor come off. There are the inner and outer bearings. Inners are put in the hub and then the seal goes in before putting the assembly on the spindle. Then you put the outer bearing on and the nuts and washers.

hopefully the spindle is still good.

@DragoISAR is the man stuck in UT. Btw he lives in FL and has to drive back eventually..

The last 100 guy I sent to Pro Auto now drives back there from SoCal for his maintenance.... FL will be a haul to get oil changes 😆

Big shot out to @woody and all the help he's provided and offered! Amazing community

Update: he's breaking down the knuckle and hub today, hopefully get parts by tomorrow or Tuesday then trek back across the country to FL

How many miles on that cruiser? First time I have heard of the bearings actually failing.

240ish. I don't think the bearing failed first, appears the lock nuts stripped and released all preload allowing them to eat themselves up

bummer, could be into a hub and spindle, won't know until it's all apart

Seems the spindle threads are cooked. Trying to put together a parts list for fixing this? Besides the knuckle assembly and new bearings?
