Did a search under "rare color", etc, didn't find much...

Wondering if the color gurus out there know what the uncommon to downright rare colors were for FJ and BJ 40-series trucks.

If memory serves the olive 653 was pretty rare...

How about 857 Nordic Blue?

T1028 Spring Green?

Anybody have any thoughts? I personally have seen one Nordic Blue 40...only a few T1028 and one olive 653....during years of CL and eBay searches, plus at events...

Spring green and "Pumpkin" orange...I remember the orange being the rarest US Spec color

4-color "woodland subdued" camo (using US Military M-38** pattern, NOT the: "3 dudes + 3 cases of beer + 4 cans of "woodsy-colors" + 1 lost saturday spray paint method") ... but ... that's not technically a TOYOTA "rare color" ... is it?

**(That's right ... a OlllllO pattern - worked great, but, this summer it's time for a renewal ... but ... I digress ... )

x2 pumpkin orange

Pumpkin.......I did a lot of work on an older CCOT resto for the Toyota dealer in Paris Tx. 73 model.....somewhere I have pics posted.....owner sold it for 26K

LOVE the pumpkin orange....a buddy of mine is painting his 55 that color right now....can't wait to see it. (Ben knows the owner of this Pig)

Is the pumpkin orange ever referred to as butterscotch? I remember seeing or reading about such a color on a 40 somewhere.

I think there was a gun-metal gray that didn't see a very long run too....

There's a Nordic Blue one close by me if you need pics.

I seen rusty rainbow, is that rare

Found them, they were in my Facebook album'

Legend goes that Pumpkin was a batch of paint bought by Toyota from their paint supplier who either screwed up a batch or made it for another company. Toyota used it till it ran out. They never even assigned a paint code to it.

Sulfur Yellow

Sulfur Yellow has to be pretty rare. I've never seen one.

I got a 73 soft top in the orange with original paint.

Also have a grey FJ25 with original paint but that doesn't count since it's 25 not a 40.

It's the one on the left.

I don't know about the supplier lgend, but it sounds believeable. My 40 was orange from the factory, no paint code on the VIN tags anywhere. I've seen other tags, Cygnus White, Rustic Green Etc, and they have the code, but just a blank on mine where the paint code is supposed to be. I'm willing to accept this as fact if anyone else is.

Seafoam's a pretty rare color IMO, out of everything I've seen, I've only encountered one seafoam 40.

a friend of mine has a '78 (i think) thats grey and has an orange ralley decal kit. only one i have seen. was this an option from yota?

Don't know the name or code, but I have never seen another with this color.

I went with Spring green.

Figured as rare as it gets, and jour not going to mistake it for a jeep.

Heath Gray is very rare in the US, I have seen a few here in Central and South America though. Still much more rare than Nordic Blue , Dune Beige etc.
