Rainman,
I’ve got a 1979 fj40 (8/70) production date.

I’m replacing my rear wheel cylinders. Can you help me with the hard line that goes along the axle and the two small hard lines that connect the wheel cylinders.
Thank you!

I'll guess you typoed. 8/79, not 8/70. Or 1970 not 1979 Which is it?

4 lines. Simple order. Just need to verify the year. BIG difference.

Send me your shipping address too.

Guys,

I'm sorry to inform you this but, once more, I'm backed up and can't get to some of the orders I have right now. Small orders that are not custom conversions type orders are doable. They don't take lots of time and communication. I'm currently working on 5 different Cruisers and they don't include brake lines. All different kinds of work. Those plus my life long dream car, the '32 Ford all have my attention right now. Of course, the kitchen redo has demanded time too but that's almost over. So, I'm mostly booked up.

My plan is to carry on making lines for years to come. It's just that different things have kept me me from being able to spend the time I need over the last few years. Thanks for understanding... If you do.

Rainman,
I’m glad I placed my order a month ago! The lines you made for my 1970 FJ-40 were perfect!
To start, I had no idea that the lines would come in a custom box (nice touch) and be packed so well.
Today I actually installed the lines and bled the system. The lines fit very well!

I have recently purchased all the brake lines from Toyota for my LX470 and I must say that these were made very well and I like the way they look better than stock. They look like they will last a long time.
Thank you again!

I''m simply posting this because this thread doesn't show up anymore. At least I can't find it.

Testing, testing...

Brake line porn... Watch your eyes.

Explaining a few things again for those who are new to this thread.
The unions in the two firewall lines are there for two reasons. One is for shipping ease. I can ship in a much narrower box. The BIG reason is for installation. If the engine and brake booster are still in the truck, it's nearly impossible to install these two lines. This union is placed so that it makes installing take far less time.
As far as the other lines go, a few may look different but that's just my simplifying a few areas with either wasted bends or getting some sections out of the way of other issues.

This is a full kit for 9/75 through 7/80View attachment 1536202
Rainman,
I recently received your FAL & RAL lines for my '77 40.
The RAL is similar to the original but does not match. (three pics below) Do you bend the hump over the 3rd member differently than the factory bend?
The new line looks like it matches the one in your pic above except the end circled (in my pic) is much longer past the hump than in your pic.

The new FAL doesn't look like the original. And I don't see a line in your pic that looks like this line.

Can you help me with these issues? I'm an old guy and may be missing the obvious. You can see the ends of both the original lines have broken off, and they may be bent in a few places that are not original but I don't see how that would account for the differences. And I can't see how either of the new lines will fit.
Thanks for any help.

I have recently bought some of these brake lines for the rear drums on my 73. The fit and finish are top notch!

Great work, @Rainman

First off, why did you bring up an issue on this thread rather than in a PM to me? I back my product and want to rectify your issues but would rather do that in private.

You get the same lines everyone else does. '77 lines are all the same. It appears to me that it could be possible that your lines were bent as you removed them. Have you tried installing my lines yet? And yes, they are not all exactly like what you removed from your truck. I have different reasons for different lines and why they are not like the originals. Your kit came with a "where do they go" page in the packet. Take a look there.

My apologies. Didn't mean to offend you. As I mentioned in my private message to you last week I couldn't figure out how to attach pics in a private message. I'm just trying to figure this out.

That's okay. I don't get many complaints. More surprised than offended. PM sent.

I believe you never get any. The quality it the best. Glad to see your still making them. I never got mine installed after 8 years waiting for cousin to finish the body.

Sorry for the delay. My email was down for over a week. On top of that, we're getting our house ready to sell. It's a monumental job and keeping me busy all day. Can you wait a while? If not, I'll stop and make one line. I'm just under the gun for the first open house.

Let me know how desperate you are.

I am not in a hurry at all. Best wishes on a quick above asking price sale.

For those of you who have tried to get in touch with me, my email was down for a week or so and the Geek Squad fixed it. Unfortunately, I can't send any emails still. I also don't have enough time to take the computer back. I barely have time to write this up. I have gotten a few emails as requests for lines but can't respond. So please hang in there. I'm covered up trying to get the house and barn ready to sell. Not much time any day of the week for anything else for at least another week. Then I'll have catch up time for a while before we have to pack up and move. That amount of time is up for grabs though.
