This is what it’s come to yall, Corona projects. This is a post about our telescoping radio antennae.

I was motivated by Mr. Kent at this link:

Following his instructions I purchased some synthetic sewing machine oil from Amazon:

Liberty Oil, the Best 100% Synthetic Oil for Lubricating All of Your Sewing Machines Moving Parts Amazon product ASIN B008QNQ2VE
So then I turned on my radio and slightly oiled the mast. Using a lint-free cloth I gently wrapped the mast at the base and “tugged” all the way up which did several things:

1. lubricated the antenna
2. Removed initial dirt
3. extended a couple sections of the mast that hadnt fully extended

I re-oiled and wiped up the mast again.

i repeated this multiple times. Then I oiled it good, especially at mast section seams and began turning off my radio then turning it back on again.
After running the mast up and down several times I noticed more grime had worked its way out onto middle sections of shaft and I re-wiped and re-oiled.

i repeated this procedure for 10 mins or so just keeping it lubricated and wiping off excess grime.

The antenna operation is much quieter now as well as better protected against grime and rainwater.
