a couple questions for the team:

  • Can I remove and replace the radiator solo?.. Meaning do I need help or can I tackle this one my own without another set of hands?
  • What is the best method to remove the fan clutch? - Sorry I tried a search and couldnt find details.....

both are easy jobs .. just a bit of labor and tools .. I woudl recomend remove the front grill and AC condenser for a easy access ..

Are not imposible from the inside, just less space ..

base on the service manual, you just have to push the driving belt down and create friction on the fan clutch pulley, then you can just remove those nuts with a wrench or socket.

I would not remove the condenser. There is a cost associated with that removal. Evacuate and recharge the AC system is not cheap.

I agree. Making more work and expense than necessary

Hey guys, instead of starting a new thread, thought I'd ask on here. I have a '92, and the fan is always on, from start up to shut off even in below 0 weather. Does this mean my fan clutch is not working? If so, can I rebuild it or whatever or does it need replacing?

yes you should switch it. same thing just happened to my 92 pickup. I believe that you can rebuild it, but I chose to just replace it. Almost never turns on now.

Just did it myself in 3 hours. First time. Usual tools. Nothing fancy.

Dont' need to mess w/ trans cooler or AC condensor. The radiator is in back of those. The only thing is that one of the hold down nuts was a pain, so I had to remove a headlight assembly to get it out (on a LX450).

The fan clutch has 4 bolts. As others have written, use the fan belt to keep tension on it. Otherwise a 1:banana: from a 1:banana: guy.

done finally!! Will post my proceedure with pics next....
