Hi guys,

I have a 87 BJ71 jap import, the leafs all round are shagged, so i need new ones. The rear 60 series/middy leaf
springs conversion to the front seems like the go to me, they seem to flex the best. My questions are...

1) Do i need stock 60 series rear springs for a lift or do i need to
get aftermarket 2inch raised 60 series springs. Do the stock ones give any lift over standard?
And what would i use in the rear?

2) Planning to move my axle forward 1inch so i could fit 35's if i
want to. Any advice on how to do this?

Really appreciate your help and if you could shed some light on this.

Hi All:

The 70 Series uses the same rear spring packs as do the 60 Series, so no, stock 60 Series spring packs will net you no lift.

I'd suggest using either the OME or the Belton replacement suspension; these will net about two inches of lift. Combined with a one inch (25mm) body lift you might be able to run 35 inch radial tires.

Good luck!
