Hey folks,

I'm in the middle of building a set of sliders for my 80 Series.

I'm using 1/4" 2"x2" for the main rails.

I'm curious on how far below the rocker panel should I mount them. I know there needs to be room for them to flex in the event of a hard drop, but I'm not sure just how far down below.

I could use your help :)

Is an inch sufficient?

I've got maybe 1/2" clearance on mine. But... it all depends on how secure/stiff the outriggers to the sliders are - if they can pivot a fair bit, then that will dictate how far the slider rail can move on a hit.

Of course even if the slider makes contact with the bottom of the rocker - it is more a spread hit/push and that would be less damaging or of concern. And the body is on rubber mounts, so that push would also be somewhat soaked up.

cheers,
george.

Thanks George!

That's helpful.

The plates to the frame are 3/16", and the connecting pieces from the plates to the rails are the same 1/4" 2"x2" square tubing.
