All- I am wrapping a general upgrade to my '96 LC and was planning on doing a 150 Amp Sequoia alternator upgrade. Lots of great information on the forum but there are a couple of details I need clarification on. I'm sure it has been covered somewhere but there are SOOOO many threads I can't seem to get a clear picture. First off, what is recommended cable size from alternator to fuse/fusible link and on to battery. I found a couple of votes for 4/0 AWG copper but looking at the charts this looks like way overkill. I get 1 AWG as an acceptable solution (critical application with less than 3% line drop, less than 10 feet length, 150 amp rating); any thoughts here? Anyone used this size with no problems. I don't mind overkill but 4/0 just looks too large a diameter to work with in a tight space. I was planning on replacing original cable and not sistering it to existing cable. Also, what about a longer belt rather than a smaller (and expensive) pulley? Photoman still offers the kit which I plan on getting and I do not want to have to take the alternator out to change the belt. So, either the pulley has to get smaller or the belt longer. I like the latter solution but didn't find a part for that. Anyone done this and if so, what belt works. Any other recent update I missed? As always thanks in advance for your help. Cheers, Thom

When i did mine, it's less than 18" of wire, and i'll only draw 150 amps very rarely, if ever, so i used 2AWG wire with copper lugs crimped on the ends. No issues in a year.

Before you commit to the Sequoia and kit, there is a 140A direct bolt-in.

I used 1 guage to a 150AMP fuse but there is also a 200 amp drect bolt in from SBS and these guys Toyota Landcruiser HIgh Output Alternators
