I have a standard high pinion 75 series front axle (from 99'). I also have a e-locker front axle from a 7x series (do not know the year). In looking at these axles it looks like the housing is the same and just the carrier itself is different to acommodate the e-locker stuff. In other words the housing size seems the same and I am thinking the axle housing is also the same between the two and it is just the carrier to swap out to put the e-locker in my other houseing (maybe the axle shafts as well). Does anyone know for sure.

Thanks,

Michael

The housing is different, there is a big notch for the elocker shift fork and the stud pattern is different as well. A stock housing can be converted relatively easy though. It's been covered in-depth at various places like here, pirate4x4, 4x4wire etc.

Denis,

You know I am talking about a high pinion 70 series axle housing not the 80 series one right?

Thanks,

Michael

yes. Anyway high- or low-pinion, both 8" elockers have the same mating pattern. The housing mod can be done in a couple of hours :)
The only thing is I read of possible interference between the electric actuator and a spring pack, you may want to check into that first.

Thanks.

I actually have two complete axles that are e-locker 7x series axles. I will take one apart and compare it to the non-elocker 78 series front axle I have. I did have one mounted on a 70 series for a while, I did not see any issue with the mechanism and the spring pack.

I will post some pictures after I get it apart.

Cheers,

Michael
