Can confirm, MY 2016 has a cut on one side only.

And I assume for those of you with one sided keys, it will only open the door when inserted one way?

I looked at my glovebox, I can clearly see that there are pins on both sides, so I guess I am SOL with getting a one sided key to work. Although you can see my locksmith did a poor job making the copy, especially on the front of the key.

I have one of these for sale if anyone is interested in getting one for their 200. Retail price 245.92, I am
selling it for 30 bucks. I’m sure someone on here wants one for their 200!

For those that find this thread down the road... 16+ LC keys are cut on one side only. Prior to that, both sides.

In general Toyota around 2013 started going to the one sided keys. LC didn't get the change until 16. Lexus started doing it in 2009.

Inside the lock there are wafers that slide up or down as the key is inserted. Teeth cut into the side of each wafer, some on the right, some on the left, ride along the groves of the key and are pulled into position. Right side rides along the top, left uses the bottom. Cuts are mirrored/reversed on each side. This allows the key to be flipped and still work.

But now, all of the wafers are only on one side of the lock. Rather than left vs. right, the teeth alternate from top/bottom on one side. Easier to manufacture, albeit some security trade offs. However, they could STILL cut the key on both sides for convenience if they wanted to...

Anyway bottom line is there are versions of the card will work the keyless access for any year LC. (Match LX year part # to the LC year)
But the physical key inside it will only work on 16+ LCs.

If you're looking for a flat physical key that will work on 08-15 LCs - this is an option. Albeit separate.

Where do you buy these for the LC200's ?

I bought online for my 2018 LC with the part numbers that have been posted on other threads. Local Toyota shop was not comfortable cutting and gave me no assurance it would work. Instead, went to a larger Toyota dealer and they cut it, no problem. Mechanical key works fine.
