So my truck sat for a few years, and upon getting it out of storage it appears that it was put away with very little fuel in the tank and there was a good amount of surface rust inside.

I currently have the tank soaking in an electrolysis bath to remove the surface rust from inside, and I plan to use the KBS Coating system to coat the interior of the tank once I am finished.

My question is how do I deal with the anti-slosh flapper inside the fill neck of the tank? Will the coating not seize it up?

Obviously I will have the pickup and sender removed.

If the filler neck isnt rusting up top by the flap then I would just coat the bottom portion of it. Not sure how the application of the KBS coating is but if the filler neck is bad I would replace it

Pretty much everything was coated in a fine, dust like coating of surface flash rust. Nothing looked deep though, and the tank was replaced in the late 90's under the recall.

I'll have to drain it and see how effective the electrolysis has been in removing all the rust.
