just had the rear pinion seal replaced in the rear end. It was wet but not leaking...now it's leaking! Replaced with another seal thinking first one might have been bad, it's still leaking. Is there anything else I'm missing in the rear end that could be causing the leak (half dollar size when it sits overnight). How tight should the nut be? Thanks.

Howdy! Could be the seal is just fine, but the mating surface on the yoke, where it rides inside the seal, may be worn. You can get a Speedi-Sleeve that will fit on there to resolve the issue. I think they are made by Chicago/Rawhide, and maybe others. Check with your local parts supplier. John

Rather than mess with a Speedi-Sleeve, I would just get a new flange. They're not that expensive.

Speedi sleeve should be used as a last resort. Try some very fine emrey cloth on the seal surface to scuff it a little and don't for get to put some sealant on the spline side of the washer. Also did you have the preload on the pinion rechecked?
