I know that some late '70s trucks came with "long" birfields that require the "long" hubs. I also know that "long" Aisin hubs are difficult to source.

Can you just swap to "short" birfields and run the more common "short" Aisin hubs? Maybe upgrade to chromoly birfs at the same time? Do you have to grind the inside of the axle?

Thanks in advance!

Lock out 101 (FAQ)

yes on the short birfields with short Aisins.
If you are putting the later birfields into a 40 housing you have to grind a little, top and bottom,
just beyond the knuckle bearings

Roger that. Thank you for the help.

Where is the best place for later birfields and Aisin hubs? Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters?
