I thought it was a loose belt which was causing the constant squeal but now I think it may be coming from the pully that the fan is attached to.
So is there a replaceable pully bearing?
Any ideas?

Do you mean the fan on your 84 FJ60? Behind the fan is the fan cluch, behind that is the pulley and behind that is the water pump. Maybe the water pump is going out? When you desmoged what did you do about the air pump? If just gutted it could be the bearings in it..mine did that until I changed it's bearings

Maybe it is the H2o pump. But yes that's the area it seems the sound is immenating from. I had the pump replaced with an aftermarket Pully from MAF during the desmog.
So do you think it's the H2O pump or is there a bearing in the pully on the same shaft as the pump?

The pulley has no bearing. It slips onto 4 studs mounted into the front of water pump and is held on by the fan cluch. If the pump is making noise then I guess it's bearing has gone out and needs to be replaced. First I think I would remove the belt for the water pump-air pump and run engine to make sure that is where noise is coming from but then my ears are shot and I have to check more then most...lol....good luck

Howdy! It may be the belt, if it is not a new one, or even the belt/pulley combo if they are not a perfect fit. If you can still find a bar of Lava soap with pumice, rub it on the belt surface that runs on the pulley. If the sound goes away, all is good. If it comes back, then buy a new belt. John

Do you still have A/C ? It could be the A/C Idler - that bearing is serviceable.
