Pulling Birfields apart??

How do you pull them apart? I'm doing the disc conversion and someone said to swap the ends of the birfields to the fine spline.
I know there is a circlip but I want to know how you do it?

get yourself a piece of pipe a little bit larger ID than the axle and about 6" longer. Slip the axle into the pipe with the Birfield on top of the pipe and then slam that pipe on the ground as hard as you can...... it may take a shot or 2 but it will come out

Pipe trick works. Ive also had luck with a nice whack with a baby sledge.
