PS Fluid Question (1 Viewer)

I was today in Walmart trying to buy ATF for a PS fluid change. The only thing they had was SuperTech. It is Dexron VI and seems it is backwards compatible... so I bought it.

I would be using this only for the PS, not tranny.

Thoughts?

Advance and Napa carry name brand Dex/Merc, just FYI.

Yes, I should have gone to either...maybe I'll just do that in the morning and return the SuperTech. Just thought it might be as good for the PS.

I might be a bit more picky with my transmission, but for power steering I would just use the cheap stuff.

Dex VI is synthetic, It's likely backwards compatible in the PS but I'd get DexIII or dec/merc to be on the safe side.

The price difference is not that much so go for the good stuff at NAPA or Advance Auto. Better to be pound wise than penny foolish. All the best.

You guys make a good point when you look at it that way. For a few bucks more I guess I'd go with the good stuff too.
