I am hoping that someone can tell me the perfect BS for running 12.5's on a BJ74. Have been doing some looking and been told everything from 2" to 3.75". I think I would rather get the proper rims instead of running spacers. would just like a real answer from someone who really knows. It is NOT ok in my mind if they only rub when the truk is articulated. I want to be able to clear them under any conditions. Thanks in advance. J

Wheel Backspacing of 3.5" or less is required to clear brake calipers and tie rod ends, for any tire size, regardless of lift.

Don't bother messing about with 15" wheels, get standard Toyota 16" steel wheels. $80 each delivered to my local Toyota dealer.

Lift doesnt really matter, when at full articulation you still flex to the bump stops anyways, well depending on how flexy your suspension is. With my stockies on, which are the stock toyota rims and 31x10.5 tyres mine rub in the rear inner guards and hit the upper wheel arch on the front. With my 33x12.5 tyres on rims with a 90mm back spacing the problem is even worse, particularly at the back. They rub hard, i'm looking at getting some rims modified for a 50mm back spacing which will hopefully get the tyres to clear properly on the back.

cheers

I have 12.5 Interco Truxus on 15X 8 with 3.75" backspacing (Pro Comp Rock Crawler Series 52 (51-5883-S3.5). On the front you need a 1/4' spacer to clear the caliper. Stock BS=3.5". Fits fit fine on the back. With the Old Man Emu setup no rubbing, but with under full articulation the front mud flaps don't last. The Pro Comp wheel was the closest to stock backspacing you can get without ordering custom wheels at the time I ordered. Don't get 10" wheels too much crap gets jammed in the rim. Try Northshore Offroad

I used to always get the 3.75 backspacing and run small spacers to clear everything, worked pretty good. but did some research as I wanted to go a bit wider, and have found the rockcrawler rims have an option of custom 2.5 back spacing. The whitespoke are pretty cheap in 15in rims, the black 16in rims I ordered, not too cheap, but not bad. NSOR was cheapest I could find without discount (I think around 100ea for the black 16s), but I have sourced a good discount through a local company and Interior offroad in Prince George (through a friend). Just sharing for people looking for some more offset without going to 1.5in spacers.
Cheers,
Deny
