Finally got to the getting paid part of the ritual. State Farm stepped up and is paying a good value for the truck and in addition is allowing me to get an appraisal of my own to which they will get a mediator to decide if more should be paid. Never seen a 2 step process in these type of dealings, but I understand that in custom vehicle cases like this it does happen. I have not gotten a true buy back value yet and wont until the settlement is final. Its going to be high though i'm sure.

Work in the fact you'd like to buy it back too

Good luck man..

I discovered Project X a week or so ago... and there were enough comments from people in there that I searched out your other builds including this one. So I read through this one over the course of a few days and just love the end result. At least prior to the accident. So glad everyone was spared.

When I saw the photo of the accident I couldn't help but think how providential it all was. An amazing cruiser built with time, care, and attention. A truck built by a craftsman who did the job properly and cut no corners. The Cruiser saved your lives, but your attention to detail and quality made sure it was able to. No joke.

Here's hoping for a good settlement... and I'm looking forward to your next step. I'm a newb, but I can tell you aren't the type to wallow or feel sorry for yourself. You seem like the type who is already brainstorming the resurrection build.

I did but the numbers didnt make sense. They wanted 27k back from me. It was bought for 1/4 of that at the sale.

Re-body or repair?

Or have you studied that enough to decide?

This is gonna be good!

Curious, do you think the other bidders had any real idea of what they were bidding on?

Awesome Gary!

Great to hear
