Waking up this morning to a winter wonderland. Time for coffee. Then snowshoed around the property. Still undecided where and on what lot to eventually build the cabin but as of right now I’m totally digging this!

Chief Joseph Lodgepole Pine really stands out in the snow.

Time for lunch, bacon from our pigs and cured by my coworker Matt. Toasty 60F inside the bathhouse.

Also decided to plug in the block and oil heaters. I talked to a few locals down here that leave the block heater plugged in all the time in winter when they get home from work. Within about 10 minutes the oil pan went from 29F to 48F.

I don't have a grid heater or glow plugs, or even the cold start solenoid on mine, and it started pretty good at +20°F this morning, not even using the block heater. It took forever to get up to operating temp, though.

Without the grid heater in low 20s and colder it just took extra cranking cycles. I didn’t like that, for both the battery and starter. The grid heater made a big difference but then you have a cold block and thick oil. The block heater and oil pan heater made a real difference. Oil pressure used to be 80psi when it was really cold. Today it got up to 50psi on startup.

After lunch decided to take Project Snowball❄️ to checkout the Klamath Marsh.
The block warmed from 29F to 74F in an hour and a half. The oil pan was up to 100F. Trip south down HWY 97 then east on Silver Lake Road.

Found a spot on the eastside of the Klamath Marsh to spin some cookies.

Evening in paradise!

The boot Hojack used was a temporary rubber deal to get him home from my shop when we installed his new turbo. The silicon boot he plans to get should solve this issue.
When my boot blew apart I noticed the 90 off the turbo can rock a bit off the T-clamp like a swivel. This allowed some flex on the joint that we put together. Believe me I will be ordering that reducing boot from Frozen Boost when I get back. I’m actually thankful it happened. My heart skipped a beat at first until I realized no boost… phew! Time learning and working with you has been amazing brother!

Half moon on the fresh snow in the crisp night air is amazing. Temperature under clear skies is dropping like a rock.

Got Project Snowball❄️ plugged in for the night as forecast low looks like -3F tonight. Already 8F but the oil pan and block heater are working great.

This mornings cold start.
When starting prior to both heaters there would be quite a bit of black smoke pillowing out even idling. What I really noticed especially with a white background is the lack of smoke. Also while warming up before the 60 would shake as it warmed up. It started as smoothly as it does when it’s mild. Took a drive around the community to check out more lots for sale. There’s actually the most I’ve ever seen right now. Unfortunately none are adjacent to Travis or my property.

We got hit by that storm last night. My dog is very happy right now!

Life’s been busy the past nearly 2 months. The family took a week long trip to the Big Island which was a great getaway. 🤙🏼

Did you keep in low? Just curious
I was in 2WD by the time I put him in the drivers seat. We headed out on the logging road to our rural county road. It’s about 2 miles from home from there on pavement. He drove the rest of the way home.

Beautiful views!
