Don't you just love how easy it is to work/tune the VE pump?

Just when you get that feeling the 60 is ready... driving to work and as I’m steering I hear the whine of the PS pump, hmmm. I just topped off the other week. Progressively got worse. Got to work and saw fluid coming out my capped of line of PS pump into the body.

“while I was there” I decided to pull the vacuum pump as a small oil leak developed here.

Does the new power steering pump have two returns? For hydroboost brakes? There are ps pumps without two returns for gm the body of the ps pump looks the same as gm. Just thinking out loud here. :smokin: :meh:

Was able to run to Napa and actually get replacement VP and PS pump without any receipts, was totally stoked. Got back to shop and decided to just press on. Wife and kids have a 4H meeting so perfect time to work on the 60.

This is looking at the VP oil feed line. Before it was touching my motor mount and didn’t like how close it was.

Drilled a 1-3/8 hole in the motor mount to give the oil feed line clearance. Filled the PS reservoir and bled the system. Lifted the front end of the 60 with the forklift and turned the wheel back and forth. Took the 60 for a drive up street and back. Brakes worked and power steering worked aside from some air still in the lines.

Got back and checked for leaks, all good.

Perfect Oregon day to go out to the pumpkin patch and corn maze. Muck boots and rain gear were the fashion of the day.

Smoke management out the pipe has been good. Really it’s not too bad if I try to control it and not hammer on the pedal. I passed a dodge going 48 mph in a 55 zone this morning. Jumped to 5th and hammered on the pedal, accelerated to 77mph in about 5 second passing and put down a nice cloud of black smoke. The guy in the dodge prolly smelled the aroma and was like that Toyota has a diesel. 🤣This 60 is no 2F turd anymore.

Herd of Elk on the way home. Saw them this morning too but didn’t have time to stop.

Time for new headlights I bought from Marlin Crawler and some marker lights I‘ve had a couple years now.

Both sides had the lower bolt seized and stripping so got out the fine tool and was able to make a large flathead screwdriver work.

The new Marlin Crawler housing with H4 xenon bulb was a direct replacement.

Got running lights and marker lights all working. Can’t wait to see these at night.

Lower drivers marker light needs a new bulb I didn’t have.

Still need to finish wiring the front Harrop E-locker and install the Tiny Tach and wire it in.

One huge difference I’m noticing with the new Case/ Holland valve cover breathers is the lack of oil now in my crankcase breather collection separator. Before I’d get about a tablespoon a week. Now it’s virtually empty aside from collecting the vapor and allowing it to settle. Wondering now if I should get another set. I’ve got my oil fill #1 valve cover with a small breather, #2 &#3 with the Case/ Holland breather, and #4 is just the valve cover.

It’s great to already notice a difference. I saw the Cummins valve cover breathers on the Cummins R2.8 so you know if there on a new motor they work. They feed the vapor back into the motor on the air intake line of the turbo.

Had about a half hour to tinker and decided to get as far as I could on the Tiny Tach. Cleaned paint off section of injector line.

Removed the old manual CHOKE switch and drilled another hole for the dimmer switch to make room to mount the tiny tach.
