Awesome. Get that guy installed!

What I’m trying to figure out is that spacer is 0.60” wide. I cut a spacer that was 7/8” which allowed the gears to mesh properly. Am I missing something else between the spacer and the input gear?

This is the gear mesh with that AA spacer.

@cruisermatt I didn't think of it at the time because we installed the gear the way we pulled it off but is that gear on backwards? Is that lip supposed to seal on the oil seal in the front half of the case (which also wasn't installed when we pulled it off and consequentially didn't install).

Oh man. Yeah I think you have the gear backwards. It should only have one sealing surface, for the input seal that also appears to be missing. That seal surface on the gear looks like it’s pretty torn up, might be the pic though. Make sure you put the AA spacer in before the seal. It has a larger diameter then the seal opening. If you’re going to replace the input gear a spline input gear from Cruiser Outfitters is highly recommend, especially with your 4BT torque.
And you’ll also want to plug that unused bolt hole below, otherwise oil can pool between the adapter and front T-case half. I always had a leak there until I plugged that hole.
I think I actually learned that from your build thread @boots4  I realize it’s been over a decade since you wrote that section though.

Maintenance evening.

My Wabco vaccum pump has been leaking oil at the seal between the front and back half of the vacuum pump. It was starting to get bad and decided to replace it and my weeping power steering pump while I was doing this too. Both were replaced under warranty. Was a great time to degrease everything and clean it all up. Went and swapped out the VP and PSP.

Installed the VP but the trickiest part is the back top bolt of the power steering pump. Had to use a small 14MM socket with a small hex adapter extension and 1/4” box end wrench. Also the lip on the body of the power steering pump was hitting the lower bolt that’s the bracket for the injection pump. Used flap disc and contoured the lip so it’d clear the bolt.

Got it all back assembled and refilled power steering pump and bled the air in system by lifting front of the 60 off the ground and rocking tires slowly side to side.

Took Snowball ❄ for a test drive up the road and got back. No leaks. Decided to continue to degrease and and pressure wash.

All spiffy
@Mr Cimarron how many Wabco vacuum pumps have you had fail. This is my 3rd reman.
Still on the original but don’t know who many miles on it. When I bought the engine it was missing the VP on delivery so the seller pulled one from another engine to send me. I’ve rebuilt it once about 30K ago.

Think they’ll go nicely in the front 4plus bumper.

While there a product developer for WARN Industries was there with new product for Cascade Rigging to test.

Apparently they test a lot of products for WARN since they are just down the road.

So is your transfer case actually squared away now? I was having nightmares about missing seals, backwards gears..

Just ordered from @cruiseroutfit a new split case gasket and long spacer for the input shaft as I cut mine shorter.
Driving the 60 I’m noticing no issue. Noise and shifting isn’t n issue but am going to install that AA spacer as soon as I get parts from Cruiser Outfitters. Thanks Matt for the heads up!
I’ll have a follow up as soon as I can

The calendar says July but the weather at the Crater Lake property doesn’t show it.

Campout with my buddy Eric and family from Pennsylvania 3rd week of July. He rented a motor home to come back out west. My old climbing buddy. He moved from Oregon in 2005 so really looking forward to seeing him.
Happy Independence Weekend IH8MUD family 🇺🇸

My Papa Joe was in the US Marine Corps and stormed Iwo Jima. During the assault he rescued fallen soldiers bringing them back to the amphibious boats to be taken back to the ships hospital. He ended up also being wounded and was able to get back to the ship hospital. In recovery he met a nurse who would later marry, my grandma June. My Papa Joe was awarded a Purple Heart and will always be my hero. He never talked about WWII until I took him out to doughnuts and coffee at Joe’s Doughnuts. I had recently became a Christian and shared my faith with him. It was the most memorable time I’ve shared with my grandfather and he opened up and shared his WWII experience with me. We both shed tears and was so proud to be an American. On his death bed I was by his side reading scripture verses in his ear. He was in a suspended animation state, talking to people who weren’t there and driving while on his bed. His eyes were distant and looked right through you but out of nowhere he stopped and his eyes connected with mine and he said “Bible Verse.” These were the last words he spoke and to this day give me hope and faith in God almighty. My Papa Joe was between worlds, seeing things I can only imagine and welcomed into Jesus arms.

Tonight Mike and I took the Tcase apart to install the correct thicker Advanced Adapter spacer.

Here’s the tcase with the backwards input gear and spacer I made. The gears were still meshed flush.

I put almost 600 miles on the 60 and the spacer still looks like the day I made it.

@Sarajco local from Ouray said Independence Weekend was a bit of a fiasco. With COVID19 and masks I decided to wait til next year for SAS5.
Instead I’ll be working on installing my septic system at the Crater Lake property.
