Hello everyone. To introduce myself. Don in Dallas. I have own over 10 new Jeeps Wranglers fix them all up and every time I saw an FJ40 on the trail, no matter how nice my" rig" was...I was a little jealous and could never put my finger on it. I never knew anything about the FJ40, how it was built, any comparisons to the jeep in regards to the strength of stock axles etc. I just like the look. One day I was driving on a back road of a side street and seen a FJ40 peeking over a car next to it and stop in, call the owner asked him if he would like to sell the FJ40..he said only if I was going to do something with it. I assured him it would not collect dust. A deal was made ( if I told you you would not believe me and if you did you would be mad) trailered it home and built a carport to work on it and here I am. I know nothing about doing this. I do want to put a 4-inch old man emu lift, new 34 in BFG's and wheels, it has a 327 V8 ( I know not crazy about this) However since it's not original I am going to take some liberties that might offend some. It has a 4 speed with the OEM transfer case PTO with factor Ramsey Winch. I am selling this all, transmission transfer case and winch if anyone is interested. I am going with a NV4500 and a atlas transfer case. The FJ has very little rust and the patina looks very good. I have a painter to come by and look at the cost to repaint it and will decide from there. I have already taken the roof apart and front end now Im going to take the body off the frame this week end and have it blasted and primed for black paint body and frame. My plans are dis brakes, lockers, and new interior in addition to the above items.
