When I installed mine I was worried about the gap. Mostly that it would warp the dash panels over time. But I just quit worrying about it lol.

I've been running one on each side for over a year now without issue. I use one as a GMRS mic holder and the other to clip my handheld HAM onto as needed.

Yeah I’m already kind of over it. The mount is great so far. Fingers crossed it holds up to South Florida summer.
