Within the last month whenever I try to fill the fuel tank on my 89 FJ62 w/190K the nozzle on the pump trips off as if the tank is full. I have to fill the tank at a very low flowrate to keep it from tripping. I am located in southern California where every station has vapor recovery nozzles, I am assuming I have a plug somewhere in a vapor return line but have no idea where to start. Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, you guys have a great site here!

How about the simple stuff like pulling the nozzle out a bit, or rotating the nozzle?

Zack,
Thanks for the note. Yes, I have to constantly reposition the nozzle to prevent the pump from tripping. It seems replated to fuel flow, the higher the flow the faster it trips etc.

I used to cheat by pulling back the vapor shroud to let it vent. Not eco-friendly but worked. I've been in NM for 8 years and had totally forgot about those nozzle condoms...
