It looks like L has crossbars for the 200:

I haven’t seen these. Very cool.

Sounds like finding the LC side rails to replace my LX rails are somewhat hard to find these days however.

And once you add up the price of, say, 4 LFD cross bars ($150 x 4) plus the LC side rails, seems like you’re creeping up on the price of the Prinsu.

Wow, that was definitely a new addition from a few months ago. I had four on my T4R, but at a lower price point ($80) and loved them. Wildly practical but drew no extra attention. May look into these, but would probably prefer the aluminum if they made it.

That’s a hefty 75% Land cruiser tax!

@Grumvee if you're looking at 80/20 Prinsu style racks consider the Sherpa Equipment Co one. It's much higher quality than Prinsu and the CS is about 100x better.

Cool, I don't know much about them- at that price point any idea how it would compare to Dissent?

@Gazziza Thx for the pointer to Sherpa. I wasn’t aware of that option.Looks intriguing.

Price point ($1,350 shipped including fairing) appears to be in between the Prinsu on the low end, and Dissent and FR on the high end.

The Prinsu fit and finish and having to potentially cut the aluminum risers to get a flat fit concerns me and is something I’d like to avoid.

Sounds like the Sherpa doesn’t have that issue, and also includes rubber seals for mounting the brackets, which sounds like it would lead to a better seal.

BUT I see no reviews of the Sherpa product installed on a 200. I’m a little nervous to go with what appears to be a new entrant to the market (thought looks like they’ve been making racks for other vehicles for longer).

Do you have one? If so, mind posting your thoughts (and even better, some pics)? Thx!

I ordered the Sherpa on release week and just got it on Saturday. Haven't installed it yet, will try to do it this weekend. Edit: My reason for choosing Sherpa over Prinsu or Prospeed was the rubber mounts and the side handles/holes which lets me mount side lights that don't stick out of the rack. I like how you can flush mount BD lights on a GX SSO rack, too bad they don't make it for a 200.

All the options have the pros and cons. I did 80/20 crossbars on my stock GX470 rails and was ok with that, just wish it was larger. I thought about switching from LX to LC rails for the 200 and then doing 80/20 or the LFD rails but the cost of that starts to add up.

I know Prospeed is working on the 200 series rack. They're a vendor here and popular in the 100 series and GX crowd. Prospeed is more "slick" looking but the front fairing doesn't go all the way to the front/windshield,

That prospeedrack is good looking. I find it interesting that prospeed has a 270 awning mount for the 100 series rack. Looking at their rack it's nearly identical in build to the Prinsu rack. It's also interesting how many vendors have nearly copied the Prinsu design.

I have a Prinsu that was purchased prior to the company being bought. Mine was very easy to put on and has worked well for me.

To the original question, I don't see an issue with the weight on the Prinsu. I have used it with a RTT without issue. We often have Yakima's biggest box fully loaded, a kayak and the ARB awning on it at the same time and I have not had any problem. It's nice to be able to stand on the roof and load all that stuff.

I had a yakima rack prior to this one and liked it a lot, one thing I miss is having the wide bars. Other than that the prinsu has been much better for me.

FWIW just checked with Ben and Dissent is 1,500lbs static load and 500lbs dynamic capacity for his racks...that would definitely be a factor for me as it appears to eclipse at least the Sherpa and Prinsu options.

For the price of the ones you mentioned you can get Yakama rail grab with round bars, a Ski rack, skinny warrior basket, and rocket box. And have a much more versatile system that if you want to remove comes on and off in 5-10min. I have a buddy with a prinsu and another with a front runner. Unless you need to regularly carry 8’ sheets of ply wood my Yakama is better and more versatile then either of their set ups.

On this set up I carry: two fresh track 6 ski racks, two skyboxes, a skinny warrior with 20 gallons of fuel/shovel/traction boards/firewood, 6 salmon dip nets, a 16’ canoe, extra bikes (when we take more >4), and RTT, ~6.5’x8’ ARB awning, camp shower.

Wow that is impressive versatility. How is the road noise with just the bars?

I wouldn't worry about lack of reviews on the 200 series. They are new to the 200 series but not new to racks. Sherpa is very well known in the 4Runner and Tacoma space and have a great reputation for quality and customer service. All they had to do in this case was find out spacing on the 200 rack bolt holes and go from there, they don't need to recreate the wheel to make a rack for a new platform. Essentially all 80/20 extrusion racks are constructed and function in a similar fashion but there can be a few key differences. Everything that the Prinsu rack is, Sherpa improves on.

I don't have one on my 200 but do have it on my 2nd gen Tacoma. It's everything as advertised and install was dead simple.

They're located in your neck of the woods. I think if you're interested you could contact them and maybe have them give you a tour of their facility. I don't know them personally but they seem like a good group of guys that stand behind their product. I'm positive you'll come away impressed.

@reddog90 Yes, I really like the look and the utility of the Gamiviti. But all of the 80/20 accessories of the above racks really appeal to me.

Having owned a set of rail grab with 58" round bars and more recently a set of timberline towers with 60" jetstream bars I can tell you the jetstream bars are really nice and completely worth the extra cost.

The round bars were noisy above 30 MPH or so but the jetstream bars are extremely quiet. Plus the jetstream bars will accept t-slot bolts for attaching accessories.

I have the Yak system, and I appreciate the ski accessories. I ran those on the K9 dual bars and was super impressed. That is an incredibly strong system. You can do almost anything on it.

I went to the full roof rack beacuse I haul 5 people and full gear and can't speak highly enough about it. It is strong enough to be fully loaded and have me walk around with no flex at all.

Went with Prinsu for my Lx. The install wasn’t the smoothest, but I’m happy with the overall fit and finish. Much quieter than I anticipated- even with the light bar.
