TrailCrew and Friends,

Today Dave goes into surgery to remove a tumor that has tested positive for colon cancer. The doctor believes the prognosis is good and will be dealt with by surgery and chemotherapy. He should be able to return to his normal life of laughing and wheeling very soon. He will be in Antelope Valley Hospital for 5-10 days followed by 4-6 weeks of home recovery. As you all know, Dave is very strong and will be up and at'em before very long. His spirits are very high but he could use all the prayers and positive thoughts that you can offer. I will be visiting him quite often, so if you have any questions I can be reached on my cell at 661-644-0897.

Thanks so much,

Ross Kuzma

Dave will make it on willpower alone, but I will pray anyways. :)

Knowing him, he's gonna meet a few nurses and have a couple of new phone numbers by the time he leaves!;)

The best to you Dave West.

Sincerely,

Mark A.

Saw this and spoke to Ross.

Good luck Dave. I'll be thinking about you today. Let me know if you want help translating the jargon you're going to hear.

actually, I poisoned his arse when I found out he was cheating with my wife. Apparently, the two of them have/had something going on right under my nose.

Aside from that, I do not wish him any permanent harm, and will put forth good kharma towards him and his colon.

On the bright side, early detection is good, the medical procedures these days are very good, and Dave is a healthy, all be it ornery, man. I expect nothing but positive results and look forward to seeing him this fall.

Good on ya Dave!

your friend, Tony

Ross,

Please send my best to Dave. Please tell him that "We want him back on the trail soon".
You know better than most, how great it is to hang around Dave. He's a really cool guy.

Regards

Alvaro

Dave West Update

TrailCrew and Friends,

Dave has made it through his 4 hour surgery and was looking good last night. He wanted to thank all of you for your prayers and words of support. The surgery was more involved than originally hoped for. The tumor had spread to some surrounding areas. The doctor is hopeful, that it all was removed and that Dave could resume a normal life. Until the biopsies and blood tests come back negative, please keep the prayers coming. Prayers are the fuel of miracles.

Thanks,

Ross Kuzma

P.S. Now for a brief Public Service Announcement: If a doctor ever suggests for you to get a colonoscopy, get a colonoscopy right away. It's not that bad, and the alternative may be much worse.

Ditto. They will probably catch on by 3rd sponge bath in one day though.

Dave, Get well soon. Let me know if you need ANYTHING we are here for you. Don't be shy about taking Andrew up on his offer of translation or interpretation.

Update

TrailCrew and friends,

Dave was sent home from the hospital on Friday evening to continue healing. He is so happy to be out and in a comfortable, familiar environment. He is feeling very little pain, and is in good spirits. Again he wanted to thank everybody who has prayed and sent positive thoughts his way. Your prayers and his horse like healing powers really seem to have worked some magic. Chemotherapy treatment is scheduled in several weeks. I will keep you posted.

Thanks,
Ross Kuzma

Welcome home Dave! I hope to see you at Surf and Turf. Rest up and get well.

so my wife (that is both Dave' and my wife) brought home a card for Dave full of mushy crap.

Then she expected me to sign it! I don't think so... I mean it was full of mushy stuff.

Glad to hear you are home Dave! now get busy healing.

and no, I am not signing your mushy card.
