It worked! But what about those vibes?
So I drained the fluid and replaced with new ATF today. Took a lot of turning on the ground and in the air to bleed it afterward. But it works perfectly! No more stiff turning. Now it remains to find the nasty driveline problem. Tried changing the fluid in the rear diff. to no avail. The rear diff. is actually fairly tight, but sounds clunky compared to the front, which has more rotational play, but is silky smooth. I'm thinking TC. When I had the driveshaft off and tried turning the flange, it turned quite a bit. If I wiggle it, it feels as if something is loose. Could there that much flopping around in the gears? Can the flange come loose on the shaft while the nut is still staked? It's all japanese to me…Taking apart the TC sounds like a scary proposition. Looking for wisdom.
