I am trying to convert my cruiser back to manual steering and I am about to buy a Manual steering box and column for an early fj40. (mine is a 1964) Can somebody send me a picture/ post a picture of how the steering box is mounted? I am trying to figure out if I am buying the correct one. I have bought a center arm and drag link.

Not a lot of photos of this out on the web surprisingly

Thanks!

Yeah I have looked at this. I assume the steering box fits on the part 16 on there but my part looks different. and looks like it would mount differently than all of the steering boxes I have seen. I was told the one I am looking at is for pre 67 but I think it might be a 69-71. This is the one I am thinking I am going to buy. However The steering mounting (part 16) Looks like the Second photo.

You are correct: the mount you have shown is 66 and older. The box you have shown is 67-72. If your fender is an uncut ‘64, that steering box will not fit in the fender skirt. I learned this the hard way 30 years ago.

Thanks for the info. yeah I see what you are talking about with the fender. It is uncut. Guess I am going back on the search.
