I have a crack or hole in a section rubber hose that runs from the power steering reservoir and connects to the steering gear housing. It is right where the rubber hose connects to the steel hose. My question is is this rubber hose going to be something I can just go into napa and buy or is going to be a special part I have to order through a specialty store?
If it is a regular hose can someone tell me what size it is as I am at work truck is at home and napa is in between.
(Oh 13BT if it matters.)
Thanks,
Drew

ou will need to take the hose to a hose place to get made if it is a pressure line, if it is a return line than take a small sample with you to one of the Napa, Auto Value etc stores and they should be able to help you out.
i don't have a sample handy sorry, maybe someone else can help you there...

just go to a hydraulic store or a place that sells tractor parts or does repairs and it shouldnt be to hard to get one made.....take the hose with you when you go to the places so they know what you need...

So I got the hose off and got a replacement however I cannot get it all the way back on. I got it on underneath however on top as you can tell by the picture it is not on all the way it should cover the line up to the dark section. On the steel line the end of it is wider and then there is about an inch of line and then it widens out again. The original hose covered both expanded sections of metal line. Does any one have any suggestions on how I can get the line over the second expansion? I already tried heating it up a little but it only moved a little. Or should I just put the clamp on bleed the system and then monitor it?

Any help would be great.

Pour some boiling water over the hose. It will soften the rubber enough to wriggle it on:D Then clamp it and forget it.

Tried that last night it still won't go any further. I think I will get this hose off and get another and then boil some water and drop it in for a bit and then put it on. Would damage the hose at all though?

Any other thoughts?
