hey ya'll. looking for some advise on how to best change out my high pressure, power steering line on my 94 fj 80. its the one that makes a sharp u bend. dan's got the part on order for me, regretably - i can't recall its exact name. is it necessary to bleed the entire line, once the new hose is in? don't want to leave a trail of ps fluid all the way to mexico! ya know? thanks - vic

You will need to bleed the system. Replace the low pressure hoses while you're at it.

Sheddy...did you replace/rebuild the PS pump? My 94 is starting to moan. Curious if you bought a rebuilt/new or changed out another used pump. Planning to rebuild mine in nov.

Thanks
Chris

chris, i've just got a leaky hose. no moaning here in flagstaff.... i hadn't planned on a rebuild, just replacing the bad hoses..

also, thanks for mentioning the low pressure hose change out.. vic

If your pump is moaning, consider a flush before rebuilding. The additives are trashed long ago if it's original fluid, which allows it to cavitate. Takes all of 20 minutes, and will cost ya less than $10.

Doug (with newly silent pump)
