Probably going to need to replace my ps gearbox and/or pump. I've read that I can use parts out of FJ62's and even some years of the FJ80. I'm needing to stay on the (relatively) cheap side so I'm looking at all options available. What about mini trucks/4runner pumps and boxes? Thanks.

If there's a lot of free play in the steering gearbox and it leaks, the cheapest option is a rebuild.

If there isn't much power assist (hard to turn) and the pump leaks, the best solution is a new Toyota pump.

Although an 80 steering gearbox will fit on a 60, it certainly won't be cheaper.

Mini trucks boxes won't fit.

The truck is a daily driver and I haven't been able to really dig in and look at what's going on. I had a slow leak that required me to add a little fluid every couple of weeks, but now it's gotten much worse and I'm adding fluid every 2-3 days. Part of the leak is a hose that needs to be replaced, but I think the gearbox is leaking quite a bit also. It's a big oily mess in that area right now, so it's hard to really tell where it's coming from.

I have 100 other things on my plate right now and as much as I'd rather pull it all apart myself, I just won't have the time to do it until probably September.

I'll look into the rebuild kits and talk to the shop I'm going to take it to. I figured a gearbox from an 80 series would be easier to find and therefore cheaper. Is the FJ62 gearbox the exact same as the FJ60?

Depending on the year of your 60, a 62 box is not a direct swap. Later 60's, 62's and 80's share a different mounting pattern.

62 and 80 series. IIRC the changeover was late 84/85 time frame.

AFAIK it's all of them. The box is a bit bigger, but the mounting pattern is the same.
