Anyone drive with there "power ECT" button on all the time. Seems to always be in the right gear when driving in power ECT mode around town. Think it would cause more or less transmission wear. I figured less since it locks up more?

I have had it in the Ect mode since day one.

Do you notice smoother shifts in power versus normal? I guess since you have never had it in normal I should ask does yours always seem to be in the right gear and super smooth in the power ECT mode? I notice in normal mode I sometimes get a slow shift when I am driving like a old man from first to second, but not in power mode. I'm thinking I might just leave mine in power mode all the time unless someone has a good reason for not doing this.
Thanks

Yes, you need to step on it a little more to get the tranny to change when the ECT is not engaged. The ECT button allows the RPMS to go higher at the same accelerator position if you had it off before the shifting occures (thus making it feel like your always in the right gear). I think there is more pep in her step with the ECT engaged. It feels like an old soul with out it on leading me to believe the gas mileage to be a little better. I haven't driven it long enough with it off to compare though.

Just my 2 cents.... A firmer or more positive shift from an automatic transmission, albeit somewhat jarring or uncomfortable for passengers, is always better on the transmission. A firmer shift usually means higher hydraulic pressure to the transmission front pump which in turn slams clutches/plates together harder (less slippage=less wear). The trade off being slightly higher trans fluid temperatures. Pretty sure all 200's have a trans cooler that can handle this though. I personally leave my LC in Power Mode but have noticed a slight drop in mpg. I'd have bought a Prius if that made a difference however.

I've ever paid much attention to this function before until I read this yesterday. Today I selected the ECT power and I noticed a huge difference. I just recently mounted 35's on my rig so today was a fresh breath of life in this beast.
Thanks for posting this.

I always use the ECT power for desert drives or offroading or towing the trailer. In normal mall cruiser mode- never felt the need. It definitely hits your mpg.

Since using the power button in my 200 I love it in my LX570 6 speed. Seems to always be in the right gear, even when I drive like a old man or a race drive. Mine is staying in the power mode. Now I like my LX470 in normal mode.

I was messing with that ECT button and the opposite on that button is start from 2nd - so get this I was in San Francisco standing up hill on the red light - cars was start on second on , green light turned on I got my foot from the brake pedal to accelerator I press on accelerator OMG car start rolling backward not responding to the accelerator pedal OMG I almost hit a car behind me - so in conclusion I do not mess with that buttor
I use ECT only when I towing a trailer only. I use manual gear shift works like I charm when I need to race someone

If you just keep it on power it does not roll back

Hill Start Assist only works when starting in 1st gear - no fair blaming the truck for operator error :censor:

This is true. HSA requires that your computer sees the input for 1st gear as true before those rungs of logic can execute. All is assumed that you are at a stop off road or stuck (not concerned about starting too quickly or aggressively) to engage. The logic is what it is. One could program around such, but why?
