I slid into an aspen tree today trying to get over a very large block of ice that was obscured by snow: not awesome. Now I clearly can't be accused of being a mall cruiser owner. :-(

It was interesting that the crawl/MTS actually worked so well it "got me into trouble." I had no idea how much ice we had navigated because there was zero wheel slippage until I hit the tree and the ice was covered by about an inch of snow. We had to use my winch to anchor the truck as we backed down and used "power out" on the winch to keep me on the road. I was leading and the two guys behind me in 80s said there was no way they could make it up to me because it was so slick.

@mcgaskins , this was a good day to stay at home. ;)

Omg I’m so sorry to hear that!! :crybaby: I wanted to go just couldn’t swing it today, but that does not sound like fun! I think you should leave it as is though - chicks (and dudes) dig scars, and the first damage is the one the one that hurts the most!

@mcgaskins, meh, I'll fix it but it is disappointing. I'm just glad we all got off the ice cube and made it home with only one big dent. I learned a few valuable lessons today.

That's a bummer.
But that's probably the 'best' thing you could have hit though. Front fenders are cheap and easy to replace.
5380260D60 is $220 through partsouq (verify the correct number if you order) plus paint. Might even be cheaper than your insurance deductable in the long run.

Ouch! BTW, that pic reminds me of a stop along the Switzerland Trail in CO. Near the north end. Was that where you guys were?

We were at the spring (frozen) about .7 miles up the trail. This was on Pennsylvania Gulch, not Switzerland trail (but ST is very close).

The chimney behind you looks like the Mount Alto Picnic Area. That’s what made me think of the ST. Yet I think Pennsylvania Gulch runs right through there so maybe you were at Mount Alto? Or maybe there are other similar chimneys in the area.

In any case, sorry for your damage. Glad you all made it out OK.

The Mt Alto picture was two days earlier on Friday. The damage occurred on Pennsylvania Gulch.

Ah. My bad. I should have read it more carefully. Anyway, nice area for a drive! Though maybe not so much in winter.

Not “trail damage...” but annoying...
-Gotta love when CA decides to paint-stripe roads without any cones or warning of WET PAINT...

All over my side panels too, but doesn’t show up well in photos...

Here’s another pic,All my other Toyota’s have always had the gas on drive side. Can’t say I like it on the Passenger side!
Got my wife’s truck back today. Looks great, body shop did a great job. They gave her a 18 Ford Explorer limited to drive. I really don’t have anything against Fords, just did not like it much.It had all the bells n whistles,4wd and their version of crawl Control(did not try it out)Had super crappy street tires and was super low to the ground! Said they try and match vehicles! Sorry to post up on the wheeling damage as this was not.Just wanted to follow up w some pics with 200 repaired.

Sweet sliders! I ended up jackknifing my trailer in the mud. Super bummed, I think I had gotten used to the wings on my 4x4 labs bumpers on my older cruisers that stopped the jackknife. Plus the mud was so slippery it was hard to control, had to pull my self out with excavator.

This happened in December when I backed up over a stump that was covered in snow. Took 2 hours getting out with the help of a buddy and a 12k winch, 2 snatchblocks, 4 sets of traction pads, a log, and some dedication. The rear trailing arm suffered some damage and was replaced with stronger ones. Good times.
