I am leaning towards the Kenwood Excelon DDX593 as it still supports the iPod Classic where I have all of my music stored. Not a huge need for Apple Car Play in the 80 in my view.

I had an app radio 1, then an app radio 3.... hated them. Just a super sketchy interface, skip it.
Have to disagree here. With this app (AppRadio Unchained Reloaded - Android Apps on Google Play) you can have your phone screen right there on the dash with full touch capability. Had my Appradio 2 since like 2012 and she is still going strong. I have a phone permanently hooked to it in the car. Best part is the phone links into the radio's GPS antenna so all offline nav apps work great. I suppose that's a little over and above standard use but you can't beat it with a stick.
Here's a way too long video of what I'm talking about:

I just put in this Alpine unit. It is nice. Super simple to use and not a ton of buttons.

That looks really nice! Is the lower usb port in the picture connected to it? Are you able to play music via bluetooth?
Single-Din with back-up camera? That's cool but how would it work?I've wanted to try out a single DIN with backup camera like this unit. This would allow me to install a HAM in the other DIN slot.

WellLooks like a retractable 7" display.
Great thread. For those of you running a double din unit, what about sun glare?
