I am leaning towards the Kenwood Excelon DDX593 as it still supports the iPod Classic where I have all of my music stored. Not a huge need for Apple Car Play in the 80 in my view.

jvc kdx 80bt - digital media player - dual usb inputs
sadly appears model is discontinued - sadly no am / fm radio (because i forgone my motorized antennae)
but excellent color mathcing and compatibility with iphone / apple music....

I had an app radio 1, then an app radio 3.... hated them. Just a super sketchy interface, skip it.

Have to disagree here. With this app (AppRadio Unchained Reloaded - Android Apps on Google Play) you can have your phone screen right there on the dash with full touch capability. Had my Appradio 2 since like 2012 and she is still going strong. I have a phone permanently hooked to it in the car. Best part is the phone links into the radio's GPS antenna so all offline nav apps work great. I suppose that's a little over and above standard use but you can't beat it with a stick.

Here's a way too long video of what I'm talking about:

Oops, I probably should have specified that I have an Iphone

So that said, you're probably very happy running an android.

Do you know what it does differently than the model I posted above?

The DDX593 is in their "Excellon" line which has a two year warranty (vs. one), and this unit adds HD radio. May have slightly better electronics like the Sony ES used to? Goes for about $100 more.

That looks really nice! Is the lower usb port in the picture connected to it? Are you able to play music via bluetooth?

No, that is the old cigarette lighter. There is an USB port that I ran down to the console. Yes, you can stream music via BT, one of reasons I purchased it.

Jensen VX7022. It's kinda a piece of crap. I can't see the screen half the time, can't manually tune the radio (only scan), whenever you drive through a tunnel or behind a mountain, a loud voice comes on (interrupting whatever you're listening to) and says "GPS signal lost" regardless of whether you were using the navigation.

Plan is to go back to whatever $100 HU they're selling at best buy, since the last one I got for my 4Runner was trouble free. Touchscreen sucks, give me real buttons please.

I'm running the Pioneer DEH-80PRS in both the LC and my car, very nice unit with some high end internals, dual rear USB, comes with a mic for the autoEQ feature, lots of different screen colors, etc. I've always been a fan of Pioneer headunits, and the only reason I'd switch up would be for something double DIN with APP functionality, and backup camera.

Here is one where it is in the display, I like this method a little better but it doesn't seem to have bluetooth??
