Kenwood DDX771, but in hindsight I wish I had gone with a comparable Pioneer. It's fine though. Gets the job done.

Currently running this new $25 no-name china headunit. Works great, surprisingly, and (knock on wood) hasn't burned down the cruiser yet. I just ran through the factory amp, eventually I'll replace that.

I'll add pics of it in the cruiser later.

naviskauto 7" android unit. Terrible unit. Don't cheap out like I did. You have been warned.

an old Pioneer App Radio 2; i think they are on 4 now. Awesome unit.

What do you dislike about it? Android head unit is very much on my to-do list.

MATH, its just this brand I suppose, on the first day of our nearly 5000 mile vacation the radio quit. When the gps unit wasn't telling me I was speeding it had probably shut down.

I had an app radio 1, then an app radio 3.... hated them. Just a super sketchy interface, skip it.

Anything with "carplay" by apple... don't bother, it's sketchy too.

JVC KDR660 - in the 60
Pioneer AVH-4200NEX is what i'm running in my daily - nice setup once you disable carplay
Kenwood somethin or other basic unit in the 80
Pioneer DEH-X6800BT is what I'm using in the 40

Kenwood DDX514 (nearly 10 years old now) Volume knob is key IMO. I choose this unit as it runs Garmin based NAV and I can plug in a SD card with topos. But I've never done that. The choices now days are probably a few generations past this. But I have no real reason to replace it.

Here's a thread I've book marked as I'm really looking into one of these head units. Seems to be a lot of bang for your buck, depending on your feelings about cheap Chinese productions.

Installing a Joying 7" Android Head Unit in an 80

Similarly bookmarked! The ability to use the Torque app, the best navigation software, and email reminders to your truck (i.e. "there is a large tree down at mile 17"), as well as have your truck remind you when it needs something is valuable. Just need to make sure the hardware is okay, because you can install whatever version of Android suits your needs.

If I had a 95 or later vehicle I would be completely sold on one of these Android hu's to use with the torque app. Having a 94 cuts that out of the equation for me. But as I began to look at my needs, I've realized that anything gps-wise these days I use my phone as all the fun places with no coverage are all long hauls away from me. I figure being able to screen mirror my phone to my hu takes care of 90% of my gps needs, and with Google maps being functional offline when you dl map data, it will be good to go as well when I'm out of cell service.

I want to do this pretty badly, but have heard the boot-up is pretty horrendous on these. Are you rooted with custom rom and all that jazz? I want one mostly for Waze, Gaia GPS, and Torque.
The bootup is ~ 30 sec but I have it set to wait 2 hours before shutting down to eliminate the bootup time when making short stops. The backup camera switches on instantly, even if booting up. I didn't root but have Torque, waze and many other apps installed. The GPS that came with it works good. It is nice having 2 usb ports as well as 2 micro SD front slots. It says up to 32gb but I am running a 64g no problem. I also installed a USB SDR dongle and can use it as a radio scanner.

How did you get your dash lights so green?
I installed green LED lights to replace the burned out bulbs. They are almost too bright. They dim down to a point then shut off.
