Yep, are sweet. Hoping to install mine before the event. I pucker up at the thought of cutting the dash everytime. May chicken out and move it to a rocker panel in the radio spot. Would also like a secondary VDO gauge for water like mike mentioned. Would have to come later, winter project.

I've seen folks screw them in on the lip along the bottom of the dash. Personally, I find it easier to keep your head up and look right or left slightly and since I plan to FINALLY take my factory radio out and get a Tuffy console, I will simply put my new radio in the Tuffy. I thought about what to do with the factory radio area (gave my blanks to Grogan!). As you can see, you could screw these in underneath on the metal lip (or even weld/other ) also, I haven't measured my old DIN/radio area, but maybe three small gauges like these would fit where the factory radio goes.

You could mount it on a 'C' shaped mount to the right and under the steering wheel where Toyota puts the factory AC controls. Cutting the dash on a sweet rig like yours would be a hard call. Have you seen the fj40 tech thread "check out the FJ40 we drove today"? it is on the first new page right now. I think you would need two batteries paralleled just to light them all up.
LOL, I saw that rig. Thats just as bad as an aircraft so many switches makes no sense on a 40. I chickened out and decided to make a plate using heavy ABS plastic that will go in the radio spot for rocker switches using the factory radio mounting holes. Layed it out on the table last night. See page 3 where Bull installed the same switch. I just can't do it, it hurts to look at cutting on such nice rigs https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=98297&page=3 I'd like the gauges there as well but will figure out something else. I'd like to add a water temp and oil pressure gauge later.

A couple pictures make seem on a angle, and they are.(after picture 6 few lean) No one was their to take the pictures for me so the one with me was set on a angle. Pictures don't show how tall it really is, it truly is way different. Ill snap more at night

Im new to this site and scene, im young but look forward to bogging and occausional trail riding. Need my winch and bumper though.

Welcome and the rig looks great, now lets get it dirty. Are you on the West Bank in NO/ Looking in the background reminds me of that area. Tell us your name and little about yourself. Brian got some saddle time in the FJ this weekend and did well. The magnent body armor is pretty cool I wondered how it worked out.

How well did it work Brian? I could tell after you put it on that it deflected some branches by the way the dust was rubbed off in areas. Seems like a good idea.
And yes, Brian wheeled the hell out of his rig. Those FJs are awesome.

That lift and tire look sweet Wuddup.
The shields really did work! Gave me some peace of mind so I was able to hug the sides of the trails more and not worry about the scratches. I washed the truck today and it looks great. I did crack the rear bumper in a couple of spots, nothing too noticable though. They have some good looking aftermarket bumpers I am looking at now...

Yea man, if I was you I would look into ARB,Fab Fours, Pro Armor rear bumper all are find products.

Im from Chalmette, but after Katrina I moved out to Metairie. I also visit Mississippi very often. I go to the mud bogs and have always been a fan of it. Im new to the trail riding scene, I always wait into I think im ready before I jump into things, so I have been following bscla for awhile. I do plan on getting this thing dirty soon but im waiting for my front bumper and winch setup. Its going to be fab fours front bumper with warns 9.5ti winch. Its going to cost me about 2100 so it shouldn't be long before I get it but it wont be this moment. The reason im waiting for my winch is I don't want to get stuck and not be able to get out of my situation irresponsibly and ruin a brand new car.
As far as me doing my own mods, im 17 with limited mechanic abilities, however im pretty good with engines and understand them, long as I have directions I feel ok. But with katrina in chalmette me and my family lost all of our tools and have only just begun to regain some of them so doing my own lift wasnt out of the question but their was special tools we didn't have so the guy did the installtion and allignment for $700. I did the rest of my mods as far as cai, exhaust and such. I do feel as though I could have done it but I was definatly trigger happy.
What I would have given for a rig like that at 17. I'll keep it clean and leave it at that. We'll be in your area hopefully sooner than later to meet and help other members in your area but I hope you'll consider joining us. As for the winch and bumper we won't leave you hanging we work as a team here and you can learn alot in this group. Don't let the missing winch and bumper keep you off the trail you'll enjoy it 10 times more than the mud bogs it doesn't take much skill to mash the pedal but you'll learn patience and skill on the trail and its easier on you rig not to mention seeing what its really capable of. We also bounce around the state for events you can always see what we're up too here and on BSLCA.com.

I see your going to sicily island in october and november but november is just your member only ride I think, I am following and problay will join in soon. Im happy with my rig im not as spoiled as some of you might think, its all my money. Im very happy with my ride and im very confident in my rig. I will join yal soon, I know no one would leave me hanging from the group, i see your pretty close people and I do plan on joining soon. How do I joined bscla groups, and yeah their needs to be a meet somwhere around here but I don't know where.
I know exactly how you feel about not wanting to tear up a new rig. I'm taking it slow too, it's too pretty to mess up. I followed these guys' lead this weekend and had a great time without tearing anything up. The rear bumper thing isn't noticable at all.
The trail riding is soooo much more fun than mudriding in a rice field. It's technical and the adrenaline is amazing considering you are going 5mph max. I would definitely recommend a set of budbuilt skid plates and a good set of sliders. Although, after all my stressing out this weekend over my sliders, I don't think I had to use them. I DID use the skid plates though, and they really gave me some peace of mind.
All in all though, if you don't have "everything" you think you need at the time, don't let it stop you from making it out to a ride. If you aren't comfortable taking the truck on a particular trail, there is always a free passenger seat and everyone needs a spotter.
