I DD my 03 with 238k miles about 25 miles round trip every day. Switching jobs and my new commute will be around 70 miles round trip so I'm thinking about picking up a used ES350 for a commuter. Around 16k for a '14 with 80ish k miles. Should average upper 20s. Would prefer a GS350 but they require premium and only average low 20s, so it wouldn't make as much sense. I get 13 in my LC on 87 octane.

Gas is now $4.38 per gallon here in SF Bay Area. Tough to DD my 11mpg LX now but my GX is not any better at 13mpg. Thinking of buying a commuter car but the need to sell either the LX or Gx to do so stops me pursuing the matter

I daily drive my 2001 LX. Purchased several years ago at 155k. Now 233k and counting. MPG sucks, but she’s almost fully depreciated, which is nice.

It's my daily, except for days when I drive my 40 series.

I'd move.

Drive my RCF the most, 100 series second, and the Z3 coupe third.

Gotta sell the Z3 at this point, I just don't drive it enough.

Daily for me. My commute is 20 miles of perfectly straight, slightly bumpy county 2 lane roads. The 100 is a perfect DD, IMO. It's very quiet, very comfortable and very safe.

If I had extra garage space I'd buy a $20k LS460 with fancy cruise control, but short of that I can't imagine commuting in anything else.
I just got a like on this comment so it popped up in my feed here. Figured it was worth an update from real life in 2023 - 4 years later.

I moved to a new house (our "forever" home I hope) and my 20 mile commute to my corporate job went away (thanks covid) and got replaced by a 100 mile round trip commute to my own shop. I do not DD the 100 anymore. 2018 P100D Model S for me now. Still have the 100 and love it, but given the high mileage I do it's a serious cost to contend with. The Tesla should work out to be basically free in ~5 years if I keep this up. The 100 is great, but it's hard to compete against a roller coaster that can drive itself when I need to take a customer call on the long journey into and away from the shop. :P

DD mine for about 15 miles everyday, to my work truck. We also jump in it for most errands.

I prefer my 03 100 over the 4R I had for 6 years. I’d drive the 100 over my 2018 Savana 2500 if I didn’t carry so much crap for work.

I drive mine('99 with 259k) in rotation with my intended DD (04 GS430 230k)...love them both for different reasons, the GS makes more sense, but I miss the LC when I don't drive it, plus I like keeping everything. lubed with use....guess I love that toyota V8 in truck or car version. My wife DD's her 08 GX470 130k....she loves her toyota v8 too.
Updating mine too: in Feb of 2021, the GS430 went to youngest daughter, and I went from driving my 100 every other day, to driving it every single day. Only have a 16mi round trip to work, so gas isn't an issue. Still love it everyday. 297k miles

Some people have boats, some have motorcycles, some have RV's and some have Razor/ATV's...I have my LC as my "toy". But my "toy" is used by my family for some road trips.

Daily is my F-150.

I love my LX. I bought a 2018 Chevy Cruze Diesel Hatch back with a 6-speed Manual Transmission to be my daily driver. I tend to find myself still daily driving my LX over my diesel Cruze. Don't get me wrong, 50 mpg is cool, but man, the comfort in the LX is by far my favorite. I also drive my Porsche Boxster S on Friday's.

At the moment we have 4 vehicles but only 2 drivers so to keep everything in rotation a daily driver isn't really a thing for us. It's kind of annoying actually, we really should sell 1, or 2. But not the LC of course.

I did for a little bit but the super dead inspection, holes in muffler and body resulting in exhaust fume poisoning, busted ac and the $150 a week gas bill due to commuting distance caused me to be impulsive and buy a daily. Love the daily C class but cruiser is more stout. Doesn't zoom the same though.

This is sort of like our house. We have 5, the LX is almost always the "jump in and go" vehicle, although right now it's having trans issues (in progress). The other 4 are a rotation of who needs what and how high they are on the priority list. As of this morning, 3 were 100% drivers with no issues, and I just replaced brakes on her Camino today so now we're back to 4 easy drivers.

What really sucks is when the LX and our beater Benz are both down for something and it's crappy weather, because the other 3 are garage queens.

Plus the bike, but it almost never comes out of the garage lately and my Ms doesn't ride, so it's a toy only.

Our 4 vehicles all run fine (at the moment), but with only 2 people in the house that actually drive it's difficult for a particular vehicle to be a "daily driver" as that would mean the others are sitting more than I'd like.

A beater Benz was the 4th vehicle and most recent addition to the fleet. Didn't need it but just couldn't say no.
