hi guys, in the past days my 89 fj62 are in the range of 1000-1100 rpm in P or N; then i read a few post in here and take the throttle body off to make a clean job, theres a lot of builup, when i finish i put all the stuff on and turn on the engine, after a few minutes the rpm go down to 650-700!!, but when i press the gas pedal the engine revs go only at 2000 and then cut acceleration and when reach the 1500 rpm go up to the 2000 rpm and then cut the acceleration to the 1500 and then go up to the 2000 ALL THE TIME!!! what i do wrong??????

On the bar just above where you write your post you will see the smiley face, a pic and then another icon next to it, that is the video post. However you will have to upload the video first to somewhere like Youtube to be able to post here.

So when you have your foot steady on the gas it will rev from 1500 to 2000 rpm for no apparent reason. Idle seems fine where it is at.
Thing I noticed is when you suddenly took your foot off the gas it backfired as it dropped. Seems like something is going on with your MAF or intake. However I am not a 62 guy so hopefully one of the others can help out.

i make a code search and obtain CODE 41, thats Throttle Position Sensor, whats next? change it or it can be repaired? the TPS are
causing the video issue? :(:(:(:(:( common guys i need your help

Here is a link to download Factory Service Manuals (FSM):
https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/fsms.743084/

3F FSM:
http://www.trollholescruisers.com/Tech/Manuals/Engine/1985 2F-3F Engnine FSM.pdf

3FE FSM:
http://www.trollholescruisers.com/Tech/Manuals/Engine/3FE REPAIR MANUAL.pdf

1984-1990 Chassis-Body FSM:
http://www.trollholescruisers.com/Tech/Manuals/Chassis and Body/1984-1990-chassis-body.pdf

FJ62 has 3FE engine? Then see instructions in 3FE FSM to test EFI system (TPS, etc...).

Hope that helps!

OK.

Also, you can use 'Search' (here on MUD 60-Series Wagons) in upper right corner to search 'Code 41' and 'TPS' etc...

'Search' gives you old threads here on MUD about what you search for...about what you want to know...

is there a gasket on the TPS ?
I don't know if there is a gasket for TPS.

Do you know the part number (PN) for the TPS for your 1989 FJ62?

If you know the PN, you can do a Google Image search for the PN and sometimes the Google will show a Toyota diagram of all the parts connected to that part number.

If you don't know the PN for your TPS, you might look on the TPS and see if there is a PN written on it...or maybe go to Toyota and ask them to look up the TPS...Toyota also should have the parts diagram showing parts connected to it.

thanks, theres no gasket on tps., i read the fsm to make the tps check, but how can adjust it? can you explain me that procedure please, i dont know what the hell im doing :(

It is a cheap part go buy and put in. It will fix the issue.

It has a screw on either end loose and turn. But the issue is the spring inside looses tension.

It is a little more complicated then just bolting it in. You have to make sure it is adjusted right. Might be able to adjust yours and put it back into spec if you moved it during the cleaning of the throttle body.

Loosen the two bolts holding it on and it will twist. You will need a volt meter to read the pins to make sure it is within spec.

How you adjust them is in the FSM that you downloaded.

just putting on a new one isn't going to calibrate it. The old one is prolly fine, just got out of adjustment during TB removal and cleaning. there is a procedure in the Factory Service Manual(fsm) that goes over each step. it is also posted somewhere in this forum. Use search for TPS adjustment. you will end up twisting the thing a bit one way or the other to obtain a specified resistance reading measured using an ohmeter while holding the throttle plate at a specified opening measured using a feeler guage. it can be just out and not work. The thing could be bad, but even a new one will need to be calibrated using this procedure.
