I am having a real problem finding parts for my 1985 Cruiser. Specifically a vacuum switching valve that Toyota does not carry, and Denso no longer manufactures. The parts counter at my local Toyota dealership has been searching for two weeks, but have yet to come up with anything. Please help me!!!

Check SOR.com...they have most all that stuff new and/or used...good luck!

cruiserparts.net might work out also.

has your local parts guy always come through? my local distributor parts counter hase NEVER been unable to get any part that i asked for. maybe they arent trying.
my 2c's
but i agree, try cruiserparts.

Sounds like you are talking about the ABV air bypass valve. Is it the big valve on fender with 4 hoses to it and the top valve looks like a tophat. If you can't get them from the dealer you will probably have to find a used one.

Denso part number

The Denso part number that I am looking for is 084600-7290. It is not the ABV air bypass valve. The valve that I am looking for only has two hoses connected to it. Even the Toyota mechanics have been unable to tell me exactly what the name of this part is.

tell me this...how come SOR screws everyone with there prices? ive seen SEVERAL parts that you can get wayyyy cheaper elsewhere. just MY 2c! -sean

prolly cuze they can.....

i check SOR first for "hard to get" parts then i check around....

smoothy-- where is this VSV located? I have an extra a/c idle up VSV. I still have the SOR tag on it which may have the Toyota p/n on it. I'll check and get back to ya.

SOR is a tremendous source for Cruiserheads, especially those with older, rarer or non-US Land Cruisers. They're not cheap, so I wouldn't recommend using them for just random stuff, but if you absolutely need the part to get it back running and you're not getting anywhere with your regular sources, Specter will have it.

For NEW parts, it can't get any better than CruiserDan at American Toyota in Albuquerque, he's at the top level of knowledge when it comes to Toyota Parts specialists (up there with Mike Bingham at Cabe Toyota), plus he's very easy to get in touch with. Trust me, he can get you what you need.

Worst case scenario, find it used through this and the POR board, there's *always* someone parting out the Cruiser you have.

picture of part, please help if you can!!!

here is a picture of the part. you can see the little piece that broke off.

ask for one for a 91 Celica, ask for the AC idle up selnoid I think. I can get you the part # tomarow, but its like $17. Or hit a junk yard, any of them that look like that will work.

chitown40, that AC VSV will work.

here is the celica VSV I used for a AC idle up on my 82 fj40............looks the same as the one pictured ;) it can be removed for the bracket that it comes with

So basically a VSV is a VSV, with the only differences being the electrical connectors going to them? Is this pretty true, Pimp ?

AFAIK, yes. I used this same VSV to replace the 4x4 VSV on a fj62. Some have the ports in different spots though.
