Plasma cutter, can u buy one too big?

I'm looking at plasma cutters and have found one, used, in my price range. Its an Esab unit.

It says it will cut 5/8" and sever 3/4".

I will mostly be using 1/8" and probably cut as much as 3/8". At the same time I'd like to be able to cut thicker if I needed to.

That being said will a machine designed to cut 5/8" can it be de-tuned in power to cut smaller stuff like 1/8"?
I imagine it will but haven't found any good info after searching.

Yes you can just turn down the amperage to cut the thinner stuff.
