Howdy - I had no problems with the front axle except for leaks, so I re-built the knuckles, pulled the pinion seal and was going to replace the pinion bearing ( ....while I was in there....).

The old bearing dropped out with no issue but I can not get the new bearing to "seat" (I confirmed it is the right size) It hangs up on the pinion just at the grooved to smooth interface. The pinon is smooth and no signs of damage.

I never removed the third member and no binding or issues.

I could try and press the new bearing on using spacers and the pinion nut, but that's a one way street and do not want to go there till I am sure.

Thoughts?

Thanks

dang..... i like the sounds of that, beats putting the pinion in liquid N2....;)

Ill give her a shot, thanks!

Thanks Tom sorry for late reply worked like a charm. It was a cold night and the shop is far form the stove so I put it in a steel pot, heated the whole thing then walked it out to the shop.

Slid right on!
