So Todd informs me the orange is OEM but not for US delivery. Lore is that one South American container of Orange were mistakenly imported.

So likely it's a repaint from another color. Have them look inside the gas door. That's usually where the OEM color lives.

Instead, does anyone have some pointers for me as I look this one over? My ambition is to turn it into a road-tripping-weekend-warrior-mule for my trailer.

I won :) nice to meet you cody, good luck with your search. Stinks this one was more bondo than bacon.

While frames are generally good these things love to rust and parts are hard to find sometimes expensive when you do but it's a labor of love

Door hinges, weatherstripping, rocker panel rot, front fender repair, rear corners by the taillights, rain guyter, general condition of drivetrain which you will want to upgrade ( od) for road tripping...... hang out for a bit maybe ill buy ya a beer congratulating you for avoiding such a nightmare project sure to rob you of countless hours and dollars lol

Nice to meet you too, but I'm not sure you "won" if you actually bought the thing. There was just no way to have that on the road for summer vacation with a 400 transmission, new paint (on a solid body), and new interior. Well, no way apart from an additional $10-20K.

No way. We both won by walking away from that one

It's the one on 471. Still there and won't be going anywhere anytime soon. Would take some serious coin to get it right again and that's not including a repaint to a proper piggy color. Small block Chevy mated to the stock 3-spd, t-case vacuum not connected to engine, fuel line rides on water pump Pulley, will not drive straight down the road, interior is terrible hack job, fresh air knob is now being used as the choke, OEM choke cable, mia, dash appears to be painted with a paint brush, more bondo than metal under that hideous paint, rear window doesn't work of course neither to the head lights. It's a mess, a big, ugly, sad mess.

It's about time that piggie saw the light of day.
