Day18
so I planned getting to the Tetons today. Entered Yellowstone and saw that there were very few people entering the east entrance so I thought I’d do a quick loop. Well when I got to the west side I ran into a 10 mile long traffic jamb of tourists ( I ain’t no tourist) waiting to see Old Faithful. Needless to say I did a u turn and me and old faithful escaped by the west entrance and didn’t look back for fear of getting tourista.

Day 18 (continued)
After escaping yellow stone without getting tourista, I headed for highway 40 west. An absolutely beautiful drive ( beats yellow stone) through a remote enclave of hard woking folks, or maybe not so hard. I stoped for dinner at the only establishment I encounter and then headed for Salmon Idaho to rest my head.

Correction west on 43 to 93 not 40

21 takes you through the Saw Tooth. Very cool drive but was infected with tourista.

Day 20
Burns Oregon to Brookings Oregon. Dodging some fire smoke. This is where the cabin filter that I installed helped keep the fan air fresh. Followed a River on 20 to Bend then south on 97 and west on 66 to 199. 66 was the beginning of the redwoods but 199 is a stellar road and awesome red wood forest. The tree in front of the pig

is over 8’ in diameter. Wider then the pig by far

Ahhh the Pacific Ocean.
Spent the night in Brookings, visited mom and dad where they live in the hereafter.

Day 21
Brookings to Napa Valley Ca. Instead of cattle and hay they grow wine. Lots and lots of wine. Never been here (I drink gin) but I have a good friend lives here and it was the half way point for the last leg home.

very beautiful area

I guess I should of taken a picture of a bottle of exorcise wine

Day 22
Napa the Ojai
Didnt use the Golden Gate Bridge. Crossed the bay using the Oakland bridge. Picture did come out well. Picture of the bay, Alcatraz, San Francisco and a picture of the Pacific Ocean at brookings and almost home.

Friend who is retired in wine country and quite the longtime wine snob claims “Napa is for auto parts and Sonoma is for wine.” You can guess which county he calls home.
I’m not quite that snooty, having brought box wine to PP2021. Great pics. I looked about the same after cleaning the Frankencruiser’s underside.

Great photos @Gordobe. Worked in downtown SF for a year a long time ago in an office overlooking the Bay Bridge. Lived in Sausalito and spent many a Saturday or Sunday in Sonoma. Nice area of the world and definitely nice wine.
