THANKS AGAIN 13bt is an exellent 4 banger . what synthetic oil do you use
in my 13bt blue block , 2lte with 3l head and my dodge /6bta i use mobil 1 delvac

We use AmsOil 3000 in all our diesels from the Landcruiser H engine to the big Mack (big rig).
On the centrificial filter we tried one of these a few years back on the Mack and the filtering abilities were not up to snuff so we remove it. Last October when we were thinking about 13B-T we contacted the Canadian Company that makes the centrificial filters and the numbers were still not up to snuff. So we went back to old reliable the TP filter.

Question:There was some talk on the board that the 3B and the 13bt share the same block, So in theory the 13bt head could go on the 3b block. It would be cool to do if your 3b cracks a head it can be changed over to a 13bt with some other work also. anyway will this work?

It should work.
3B and 13B-T have the same bore and stroke. 13B-T uses a 13B block. 13B block has more webbing put into the block for more strength. So the head and intake gaskets should be the same as the 3B. I would check the gasket to see if 3B gaskets will inter-change with the 13B/13B-T.

The 3B has indirect injection and the 13Bt has direct injection so there is quite a difference in the head. Not being familiar with the 13Bt but perhaps I am incorrectly assuming it would have different pistons and compression as well. I would then expect the injector pump and injectors have differences also. cheers.

yap .. maybe the bolt pather are the same .. but in the 13B-T you have the combustion chamber on the pistons .. with less compresion ratio on it head .. and in the 3B you have flat pistons and head with chambers .. and much more compresion ratio ( like a 21:1 or so )
In the 2H 21.7:1 compresion .. and the 12H-T 18.8:1 compresion if I remember well.

So would a 13BT head and pistons be all you need, then?
Might pay to do some searching. I would expect with heavier pistons in the 13bt it would have larger gudgeon pins [wristpins] and rods also the injectors are different and the injector pump. At least this is the case on the 2H/12Ht.Perhaps even a different deck height. I think Snailtrail or one of the Kiwi boys did a comprehensive listing of these motors a while ago they are a lot more common over there in N.Z LOL they are scarce as around here. cheers

I thought you can compensate the fueling with a " setings " in the inyection pump .. but not the pistons ..

Yep you guy's are correct. I must of had an mid-age brain fart again. The pistons, wrist pins, injectors and injector pump are all different. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
just read this hole thread. Currently I am building up a mitsu 4g63 turbo engine for my ricer. I have alwayse wondered about what to use on the cyl walls and rings when assemblying. Some say assembly lube, some say motor oil, or even atf. Is there a website that has alot of info about putting engines together? I do have some of the sticky lube that you says clogs oil filters. I was told to use it on valve train stuff.

It all depends on the engine builder what is used for assembly oil, atf, assembly (moly) lube or witches brew. We use petroleum honey and other lubricants mixed into a witches brew.
Make sure you prime your oiling system and use a high quality oil filter like Hastings, Donaldson & Wix.
If you are going the use the Moly Assembly Lube after running your new engine for 5 min. pull your filter and split the can. Look at the filter pleats they are now coated with a gray greasy goo that clogs the filter.
