I guess thats one of the benefits of getting a custom built IC, is that you can get it built in dimensions that will give you an effective amount of cooling and still fit the shape of your vehicle. It would make fitting the IC way easier than having to raise your hood to clear it or modify your grill to get it in there.

Wayne, your hood scoop is quite a bit larger than than the IC, did you get suggested dimensions from the guy who designed and built the mapped IC? It seems that it would force alot of air through it!

I just dug up your intercool and propane inject thread in the 70's section, it looks like the hood scoop isnt too much bigger, i forgot the IC was laying wide from side to side.

Bell Intercoolers is able to build an IC in a few hundred different core sizes with your choice of tank ends, using the right size core with a style D left tank and a style K right tank would minimize the amount of plumbing needed for a downdraft, top mount Air to Air IC in a 1HD-T.

my first job on my HDJ80 was intercooler on front, like safari intercoolers and similar. turbo lag is very high, my turbo started pushing around 1600 rpm cause turbo had to fill too long pipings. then i removed frontal intercooler and in second setup i found a volvo intercooler 60x40x5cm. now, with this intercooler on top, under the bonnet with air hose, my engine is changed. it starts pushing around 1200 rpm. on this site there's another topic with a link to my job. bye :)
