After installing the lift, I figured I would go and stretch it out a little and see if everything was installed correctly...

I have to say it rode better, but I'm not all that impressed with the height of the medium lift. I don't have extra weight, but it just doesn't feel like 2.5". I may add trim packers after caster correction until I get vibes, or I may just bite the bullet and go for the slee 4" kit later on.

what really i think it looks pretty good with the 2.5 inch lift .....why are you happy with it
you want more flex ?

More flex for sure, my front end hardly ever does anything, and I feel like I'm always about to scrape something here in Fl, which means if I ever go somewhere with rocks I'm going to be dragging alot.

looks good man. guess you guys arent getting pounded by the rain down there ?

enjoy it, it will perform worlds better than stock. maybe go 1'' spacer up front if your not sittin level and plan the build. besides you'll soon realize that 4 isnt that big and you really want 6" :D :D :D

Nice pics, love seeing the 80 in it's natural surroundings!
Nate, thats some pretty big hills for Florida!

Yeah, thats about the biggest we've got to offer in this area  I hear alpha pit is cool but I've never been.

This was Eureka Pit, my usual proving grounds. I definitely bumped and scraped less, and felt less worried about getting high centered, but in a LWB vehicle I just want a bit more height, just in case.

May I interject this: The parts of your truck most prone to hitting obstacles will not be effected by taller springs. Diffs, axles, shock mounts, control arms... etc.

Taller tires will be of more help here than taller springs. The goal (for me anyway) is to stay with as low as a spring as you can to clear the tires you are running. ie: no point in using 6" springs to clear 33" tires.

IMOP, you'd be better served with a slee tranny skid and saving up for 35's. Then, you'll want more lift.

PS, that 4th pic is really nice.

It appears the front just doesn't compress - not sure if this is the springs or the terrain you were on to flex it?

Perhaps I missed it but did you go with mediums or heavies? How does it ride offroad and on otherwise?

hey nate... i was feeling the same way and with the help of a fellow mud member, installed the 4" parts from slee... it is the best way to go IMHO... unfortunately its not cheap.

Nice pictures and well done on the lift Nate. I just installed my OME low lift with 285 tires and increased it by 2 inches--I was surprised as I was only expecting about 1 inch.

Patience will help...especially when you have other build items planned.

If you're not happy with the 2.5", it might be because you don't have the correct springs?? Looks to me like you don't the typical 2.5" of lift. I know when I put mine on I had no problems clearing steep rock ledges which I'm sure you don't have in FL.
I ordered the medium lift from Slee, and the boxes were labeled 860 and 851 which is correct. Here are the front spings (old vs new) side by side.

I'm pretty sure they are right... the same height but the OMEs were stiffer. Still, I was looking for just a smidge more in the front. I may just trim pack and forget about it for a year or so.

Dave, don't worry I'm going to take my time. I have plenty of other stuff to do before I change the lift again.

So, how much wood can a woodchuck chuck?

Should have got the 850's. There is plenty of info here about that being a better combo. I for one didn't know when I bought mine that 850's are the same spring rate as the 851's, just taller. You can go to advanced auto parts and pick up a 1" spacer, that's what I did. Works better than the Mr. Gasket and you don't have to order out for it.

My 851's still didnt level me out I think im going to go for a 1 inch spacer in the front later on. But I went with heavies all the way around so thats probably why.

I think it looks good! You can always upgrade springs later as you said... I agree with you on getting some sliders and other mods before upgrading springs again...Give me a call next time you head out to the pit and I'll meet you out there:cheers: Its only about 1/2 hour from my place.
