SALE IS ON PAUSE.... Kind of. Read my most recent comment (I think on page 3) for details.
** Uploaded pics of engine and underside of the truck on page 2. Pics are spread throughout the thread. If this ad doesn't indicate otherwise, she's still available!
** full walk-around body pics are on page 2
** shifter has been fixed, and operates like new!
Price for Mud Members is $19.5K OBO and you'll get a LOT of good accessories with that too, outlined below the description of what I've added / replaced over the past 2 years, which really gives you extra value. I know you guys don't mess around, and you love what I love - TLC's, and the adventures they bring. So knowing it'll be less frustrating than craigslist, and knowing that the truck will go to a great person who will take care of it.... you get the idea. You'll be able to tell from the over abundance of photos throughout the thread how much I love this truck. (I secretly call her Brinkley, because she's a bit older, but still - absolutely stunning)
Below is the description:
Ultra rare, rust free frame, beautiful nearly flawless body, go anywhere you point it, Land Cruiser FJ60. Excellent condition. Clean AZ title in hand. Also have a complete set of Factory Service Manuals and original Toyota tool bag / kit. 159,651 miles as of 9:40am 2/26.
PRICED WHERE IT IS, IT DOES NOT COVER WHAT I HAVE INVESTED IN THE TRUCK - essentially, the things you would have had to worry about have been taken care of, and should be trouble free for years to come. However, I am open to offers.
This is the land cruiser featured on www.everythingfj60.com
Here’s all the good stuff:
It lived most of its life in Austin, TX. I have the original window sticker, sales order, and stacks of service receipts.
I bought it about 6 months after the truck moved to San Diego.
The windows are original, and I was told the paint is original. The light patina in certain areas and lack of paint flaws (bumpy areas on seams / doors) lead me to believe that’s the case. It is phenomenal.
The headliner is a few years old and looks perfect.
The interior is nearly flawless - none of that typical front seat deterioration
The head gasket was replaced and Old Man Emu lift kit was done before I purchased the truck.
Since I purchased the truck 2 years ago I have:
There’s probably more I’m forgetting
**The truck has been de-smogged - but it still has the HAC valve to adjust the carb at altitude. It is registered in Payson which (like Flagstaff and parts of Tucson) has no emissions testing so I have never had it tested. If you register as a classic car I believe you get a pass on smog tests. ALSO - since the sites here in Phoenix rarely do a visual inspection, I have personally test driven FJ60's that were de-smogged and passed emissions with flying colors - they just used 2 catalytic converters. Worst case - you can buy the smog equipment for a few hundred bucks on the forums.
- Included for mud members are a nice set of trail tools, 10 pound CO2 tank, arb decompressor, electric air pump, CB Radio (new in box, not installed), high lift jack, and a wheel clamp lift adaptor for the hi-lift jack. I also have some high power head lamps with an upgraded transformer (bought from a mud member) and a brand new rebuilt starter (got it "just in case" from Camelback Toyota for my Moab trip - it's a 15 minute, 2 bolt job and easily accessible... but the starter on the truck works perfectly, just me being overly prepared), I also have the OEM US rear view mirrors and OEM center console - several people have reached out about buying those, but if you want those to stay with the truck we can work that out.
The not so good stuff:
- backed into a short pole on the passenger side in the very rear - no side damage and no tailgate damage - at a low speed. The damage is shown in the pictures. I made the choice to not fix it because I hardly notice it, AND I want the next caretaker / owner of this truck to know how minor it is and that there is no hidden damage. All I had to do is replace the bumper. Got real lucky with where it hit. Look real close in the pictures and you might see it. It also has the typical fj60 dash cracks (way less than most - a lot of people told me to just leave it alone because it wasn't bad), but I put a dash cap from cruiser corps on it so that it looks nice and new.
Also, anyone who knows classics know they all have their own "personality" which you learn and live with... and learn to Love. *** fixed the shifting issue by replacing the “shift seat”. If you own a 60 and haven’t replaced yours, get one OEM from your dealership. Was an easy job - remove shift boot, remove shift lever (in neutral!), pull out the old shift seat, clean everything nice and tidy, and replace. There’s only one 60 I’ve driven that shifts s*** smooth - and it has a brand new transmission. Also, during the summer in AZ (gets over 120) with the A/C on, you'll have to keep the fan speed at 1,2, or 3 (4 is max) or else you'll trip the circuit breaker. Yes. Circuit breaker like on your house... takes about a minute, then you can reset it. At that speed it still blows hard, and the A/C is ice cold.
*** Dug in and figured out the shifter "issue" - which has never been an issue for me. It's the Shift Seat, found near the bottom of the page here. Land Cruiser 4 speed Transmission.
Shift seat has been replaced - and drives like a dream. I’ll post a YouTube video link tomorrow or Monday.
The good stuff again:
All of the work since I've owned the truck was done by a specialist that only works on old land cruisers at Camelback Toyota. Famous mud member, murf, is the Service Director and a member of Copper State Cruisers - the local land cruiser club, and he has always taken special care of this truck.
I bought this truck vowing to never sell it... but I need down payment money for a new house. I may shed a few tears when it sells, and it’ll need to go to a good home.
